RF - Assistant Teacher - Children's Center

As an Assistant Teacher, you are a part of a vital team working with growing children. As a part of that team, you will be guided by the Lead Teacher in the classroom. Your assistance is important to assure that the daily plans and routines are developmentally appropriate for every child in your care.
Some of the duties of an Assistant Teacher include:
+ Light cleaning of floors and tables after food is served
+ Assistance in hand washing of children
+ Constant supervision of children both inside and outside of the building
+ Assuring that all OCFS guidelines are complied with in the classroom in regards to cleanliness at all times
+ Change diapers/clothes when needed
+ Assist in nap time protocol
+ Assist in preparing for daily activities planned by the teacher
+ Close out the room upon leaving for the day
+ On occasion, leading the room in the absence of the lead teacher
+ Providing a role model for Work Study students and Interns
+ Reporting accidents and incidents in a timely manner
+ Caring for an ill or hurt child
Job Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
+ High School diploma.
+ One year of experience working with children under the age of 13.
+ Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices and developmental levels of children.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
+ Associate's degree

This is a part-time Research Foundation position.
