    We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Clinical Pharmacist to join our fast-paced Emergency Department. The Clinical Pharmacist will focus on providing pharmacy coverage within the emergency room setting and will coordinate and assist with the development, implementation and maintenance of clinical pharmacy programs to ensure clinical services meet the requirements and needs of the patients cared for in our emergency department. Position tasks and responsibilities include but are not limited to: providing patient care in a dynamic, high-acuity setting, collaborating with physicians, nurses and other healthcare providers to optimize medication therapy. filling orders for medications, monitoring patient therapeutic medications, providing drug information, and checking medications, IV mixtures and compounded medications prior to distribution.

    What you will do in this role:

    + You will utilize good problem solving abilities, making sure that problems are resolved, calling on other knowledgeable parties as necessary.

    + You will maintain strong knowledge of hospital policies and government regulations and dispense accordingly.

    + You will consult with physicians and nursing staff regarding patient reactions, errors and complaints.

    + You will determine and consult on possible drug interactions.

    + You will assist with quality improvement initiatives, inventory and ordering of pharmaceuticals.

    + You will monitor, record and communicate as appropriate utilizing computerized documentation systems.

    + You will utilize knowledge of age specific needs of patient in performance of duties and responsibilities.

    + You will participate in resuscitation/code response.

    + You will assist with rapid drug preparation and dosing during emergencies.

    + You will provide education to emergency department staff on new or updated medications, protocols, or order sets.

    + You will assist with safe and accurate medication therapy during transitions of care.

    + You will provide cross-coverage in internal medicine, critical care, and central pharmacy as needed.

    What qualifications you will need:

    + Graduate of an Accredited School of Pharmacy

    + Licensure in the State of TN. Board Certification preferred

    + Two-year hospital experience preferred. Residency or PGY-1 residency in hospital or general pharmacy practice required

    + Emergency medicine/critical care experience highly preferred

    + Board certification preferred.
