Job Summary and Qualifications

The Emergency Medical Technician has the responsibility of supporting the mission of the hospital to be the most comprehensive, cost-effective provider of quality healthcare services for the Houston area. Emergency Care Technician includes Emergency Medical Technician-Basic, Intermediate, and Paramedic.

What you will do in this role:

+ Supports the philosophy of Park Plaza Hospital by facilitating cooperation of hospital staff in a multi-disciplinary approach to patient care.

+ Adheres to the dress code, arrives at work on time, and initiates work in a timely manner.

+ Consistently provides outstanding service to all patients, physicians, fellow employees, and guests.

+ Displays initiative to see processes through to completion and helps without being asked.

+ Maintains awareness of your own limitations and seeks guidance from appropriate personnel as needed.

+ Prioritizes activities of self-based on demands for service.

+ Remains alert to the detection of errors in own work and the work of others with appropriate corrective actions initiated.

+ Demonstrates an understanding of patient rights, including those pertaining to confidentiality, informed decision-making, and privacy.

+ Is aware of resources available for ethical concerns and makes appropriate referrals.

+ Practices cost-efficiently.

+ Performs technical skills proficiently in accordance with established standards, as evidenced by annual validation processes.

+ Utilizes specialized knowledge and skill to perform job requirements.

+ Demonstrates appropriate skills for assigned area/task.

+ Anticipates needed supplies/equipment prior to beginning assigned task.

+ Demonstrates ability to operate all departmental equipment.

+ Is responsible for all equipment and instrument checks for the assigned area, assures they are in proper working condition. Keeps Charge Nurse informed of any equipment or instrument problems.

+ Assists with room cleanup between patients/cases/assignments, cares for equipment and instruments, adheres to infection control policies.

+ Helps to maintain a safe and clean environment for patients and others.

What qualifications you will need:

+ Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date

+ Texas Paramedic License
