The Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology has an outstanding opportunity for a Pathologist’s Assistant.
WORK SCHEDULE
Monday-Friday, 11:30 AM to 8 PM

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
It will be necessary to work in other departmental locations in order to meet patient service requirements, especially at Harborview Medical Center. In addition, less frequent work effort will be required at other UW School of Medicine locations (e.g., South Lake Union) and Seattle-area healthcare institutions.
Will be considered essential staff and as such will be required to report to work when scheduled despite inclement weather.
Must be able to meet with all shifts on a regular basis.
REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s Degree in Pathologists’ Assistant
2-3 years experience
Current ASCP certified Pathologists' Assistant
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary objective of this role is to ensure that our patients receive top-tier pathology care for their surgical specimens, while also delivering high-quality training to our new trainees when cross-site coverage is required by the Montlake Pathologists’ Assistant team. The Pathologists’ Assistant (PA) position functions under the direct supervision of a board-certified anatomical pathologist, providing critical technical, educational, and operational support in the Gross Room and Frozen Section areas. This role includes:
Performing gross examination of surgical and biopsy specimens and facilitating medical autopsy services.
Supervising technicians, students, and trainees.
Managing and ensuring compliance with cross-campus pathology operations at UWMC, HMC, and UWMC-NW, including specimen receipt, accessioning, quality management, frozen section readiness, and regulatory compliance.
Performing operational duties as essential staff across all required locations and shifts.

Compensation, Benefits and Position Details
