Responsibilities:
GENERAL SUMMARY
The Student Transition and Success Associate Program Director provides strategic leadership and direct student support to enhance the experience and success of students during critical transition points in their academic journey—particularly, transfer, and returning students. This position plays a pivotal role in developing an integrated, student-centered lifecycle model focused on onboarding, retention, advising, and persistence. The Student Transition and Success Associate Program Director serves as a campus champion for transfer students and collaborates with campus and community partners to ensure that transfer students—particularly those facing complex academic or personal challenges—receive the support they need to thrive.
Serving both as an advisor and administrator, the [title?] maintains a pulse on the current student experience, while engaging facilitation and organizational skills needed to elevate student support. The [title?] fosters a commitment to student success by developing processes and practices that support retention and graduation, while supporting the academic and personal development of students. Develops and implements campus-wide initiatives and processes for targeted student populations.
Advances retention and graduation goals by identifying and working with individuals to assist them in overcoming personal or academic obstacles, developing solutions to complex and substantial challenging situations. Provides education and guidance to campus community, students and families of students as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Student Success Strategy
+ Contribute to university-wide retention and success initiatives for transfer and returning students by using data and research to guide process development and improvements.
+ Develop and maintain pathways for academic persistence, co-curricular engagement, and timely graduation, with a focus on transfer students and students in academic recovery.
+ Emphasize personalized support, proactive problem-solving, and the development of tailored strategies to advance retention and graduation goals.
+ Coordinate care for escalated and complex student cases, working with campus partners including academic departments, financial aid, advising, student life, CARE, advising, residential life, campus safety.
+ Review Requirements Incomplete List regularly, develop individualized solutions, make outreach to students to facilitate graduation.
+ Partner with academic departments, Center for Advising Services and financial aid to implement strategies that remove obstacles to persistence and timely graduation.
+ Contribute to the development and assessment of initiatives focused on student success, retention, and completion.
Policy, Program Development and Assessment
+ Develop streamlined process for transfer credit evaluation in collaboration with campus stakeholders (admissions, academic departments, registrar, advising).
+ Make recommendations for the design and revision of advising policies and tools that streamline services for transfer students.
+ Create, deliver, and evaluate pathways and support initiatives for transfer students.
+ Collect and analyze data institutional and national data to evaluate the effectiveness of transition programs and services.
+ Utilizes data to inform improvements in transfer student onboarding and support. Closely partners with schools and academic departments.
+ Prepare reports, recommend improvements, and lead evidence-based adjustments to programs.
Advising and Case Management
+ Provide intensive, individualized, solution focused advising to students, with a special focus on transfer students and those experiencing complex academic or personal circumstances.
+ Serve as a central case manager, collaborating with the CARE team, faculty, financial aid and other campus entities to ensure holistic support and continuity of care.
+ Apply a proactive, solution-focused advising model to help students overcome barriers to success and remain on track toward graduation.
+ Maintain up-to-date case records in the advising case management system.
+ Stay current with national trends, policies, and research related to transfer students and student success.
Cross-Departmental and Community Collaboration
+ Partner with offices such as Admissions, Registrar, Financial Aid, Academic Colleges, and Student Affairs to improve transfer credit processes, articulation agreements, and academic pathways.
+ Build and maintain relationships with campus stakeholders to support students requiring services and facilitating completion.
+ Consult with internal constituents—including faculty, residence life, disability resources, CARE and advising—to manage referrals and ensure students are connected to the right resources.
+ Coordinate the Comment/Complaint/Praise Form process, working closely with faculty and university offices to resolve student concerns effectively.
+ Collaborate with academic advising, residence life, enrollment services, faculty, and other key departments to create a coordinated and consistent student experience.
+ Serve on other campus-wide committees related to student success, retention, advising, and inclusion.
Other duties as assigned
+ Participates in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge relevant to the role.
+ Fosters a culture of student success among staff, students and faculty.

MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
+ Master's degree Required
+ 10 years or equivalent combination of education and experience Required
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
+ Excellent problem solving and time management skills including strong analytical and organizational ability.
+ Excellent communication skills, including written communication, required
+ Positive, dynamic, professional attitude, and a desire to help learners required
+ Strong documentation skills required
+ Proven history of creative and effective problem-solving skills required

+ Demonstrated ability to manage complex student cases with sensitivity and discretion
+ Proven record of collaboration across departments and with faculty
+ Ability to develop and manage and implement impactful strategies to support student success, while fostering internal and external relationships, required
