    The Division of Cardiovascular Medicine in the Department of Medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Associate Professor position in the non-tenure academic clinician track. Expertise is required in the specific area of diagnostic and therapeutic cardiac catheterization procedures. Subspecialty training and documented skills with previous leadership is required. There will be an expectation of the ability of the selected candidate to provide leadership and/or mentorship. Applicants must have an M.D or M.D./Ph.D. degree. Applicants must be Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Diseases, and Interventional Cardiology.

     

    Teaching responsibilities may include providing strategic and clinical leadership of the cardiac cath lab, advancing quality improvement initiavites, new program development, fellow education, and clinical research. Teaching and supervision of medical students and residents, including training of cardiovascular fellows in interventional procedures. The academic clinician track requires 100 credits per year of active and high-quality teaching.

     

    Clinical responsibilities may include outpatient office care, inpatient consultations, and performance of cardiac cath procedures in the hospital procedural labs at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center as well as affiliated satellite offices. Specific qualifications include training and ability to independently perform coronary and peripheral interventions.

     

    Penn Presbyterian Medical Center is a tertiary care hospital within the University of Pennsylvania Health System. The candidate will have the opportunity as the Medical Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Lab at PPMC to lead an 8-member interventional cardiology team within a large, academically driven practice of over 45 cardiologists. The Cath Lab offers a full spectrum of advanced interventional services, including complex coronary interventions, structural heart, peripheral interventions, and cardiogenic shock. Key responsibilities will include providing strategic and clinical leadership of the cardiac cath lab, advancing quality improvement initiatives, new program development, fellow education, and clinical research.
