    Job Summary:

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented professional to lead our U.S. packaging Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) compliance efforts while driving initiatives that support packaging sustainability, source reduction, and waste minimization. This role bridges the gap between meeting legal obligations and promoting elements of a circular economy, ensuring that our packaging practices are both compliant and environmentally conscious.

     

    With an expansive portfolio of product offerings, the Manger, Packaging EPR Compliance and Sustainability will need to synthesize large volumes of data thus requiring strong analytical and data management skills.

    What You'll Get To Do:

    Packaging Compliance/Sales Support

     

    Manage environmental compliance for the packaging used in our product lineup which includes Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), recycled content, recyclability and labeling.

     

    This involves understanding applicable environmental laws / regulations, industry best practices, environmental design standards and applying them to Panasonic products to ensure compliance. Responsibilities include monitoring emerging issues, understanding competitor environmental strategies, applying compliance procedures, reporting, preparing guidance documents for factories & sales teams, and training. Strong data management skills are required to synthesize large quantities of product-related data.

    Specific duties will include:

    + Analyze regulations to determine relevant elements for the business.

    + Examine reportable packaging materials with a good understanding of Panasonic’s broad range of products portfolio as well as end users (BtoC, BtoB or BtoGovernment or civil society).

    + Participate in multiple trade associations to track legislative and regulatory developments and guide environmental policy in the best interest of Panasonic.

    + Maintain and manage determination points, logic and justification of regulatory language associated with government implementation of packaging laws.

    + Report on trends and inform stakeholders of impact and obligations.

    + Consolidation of product specific sales data and packaging details in formats required by packaging PROs (material types, weights, recyclability).

    + Ensure accurate and timely reporting to regulatory bodies.

     

    Circular Economy (CE)

     

    Panasonic is promoting a circular economy through source reduction, waste minimization and increased use of sustainable materials.

     

    + Develop best practices for the factories using the data collected for packaging compliance for the promotion of recycled content, sustainable materials and source reduction.

    + Formulate cost saving opportunities by reducing packaging materials with high fees.

    + Assist factories and sales teams in understanding trends and opportunities in sustainable packaging

    Basic Qualifications

    MANAGEMENT & SCOPE:

    + Reports to Group Manager, Environmental Affairs: Compliance and Sustainability

    + Supports all PNA Business Units and Operating Companies (PCI, PAC, PCEC, PCONA, Hussmann, PENA, PECNA, PESNA, PECA, PIDSA).

    + Interacts with Quality and Environmental Division as well as Business Divisions and Units in Japan, and share good practices with cross-regional team,

    + Candidates can be remote but need to be able to function well as part of a team regardless of location.

    EDUCATION & EXPEREINCE:

    + Bachelor of Arts or Science in either Environmental, Engineering, Policy Studies or Data Management, Data Systems, Data Science or Data Analytics.

    + 10 years relevant experience with a minimum 5 years in compliance reporting or the ability to demonstrate successful project outcomes

    + Expert in data systems such as Excel including formulas and macros, Power BI, SAP and similar reporting tools

    + Experience in executing EPR compliance strategies, preferred, however, if not, knowledge of data analytics and ability to apply to EPR compliance

    COMPETENCIES:

    + Strong data, organization, and interpersonal skills to engage across all areas of our business

    + Excellent strategic thinking with demonstrated experience in analyzing and responding to regulations, laws or legislation

    + Self-starter with the ability to work independently with minimal direction and cross -functionally in a fast-paced environment

    + Project management experience is a plus

    + Adoptability to succeed in an evolving regulatory landscape as well as internal development

    + Identify improvements and propose new solutions

    + Effectively communicate with colleagues with wide variety of business background in a large global company from a customer-first perspective.

    + Experience and knowledge of electronics products in a global company is a plus

    The wage range of $115,000 - $125,000 is just one component of Panasonic’s total package. Actual compensation varies depending on the individual’s knowledge, skills, experience, and location. This role may be eligible for discretionary bonuses and incentives. *The minimum hourly wage for this role will be the greater of the posted range, or minimum wage for the location where the employee will be working, subject to local minimum wage requirements.
