    Position Overview:

    The Feed Testing Technician is responsible for completing the quality tests performed on feed ingredients and complete feed. These quality tests will include but not be limited to internal NIR machine, mineral testing submission, mycotoxin testing submission, corn micron testing, pellet durability testing (PDI), Iodine value submission, and unique ad-hoc testing that are requests of research trials. This role will also support the Nutrition Specialist and Nutrition Manager in maintaining up to date and accurate ingredient loadings used in formation, on site mill visits to spot check and validate QC processes and setting up visits with vendors that provide ingredients or products into Christensen Farms feeds. This role will also periodically provide direct support to the research team when there are heavy research days or when nutrition support is required to complete a trial such as validation of complete feed before the feed is fed to the pigs.

    What You Will Do:

    + Completing Quality control tasks for the feed department

    + Analyzing feed and ingredients through a NIR on a weekly basis

    + Capturing and entering QC data into the internal database

    + Maintaining and coordinating sample collection and submission with internal mills and toll mills

    + Setting up routine audits and visits to validate QC process of incoming ingredients or products

    + Supporting the feed mills in testing corn micron size and providing support to maintain target micron size across all mills

    + Audit all formulas for mills on a weekly basis to validate correct nutrient and ingredient levels with support of Nutrition specialist

    + Supporting the nutrition and research department during times of large projects such as research support on site

    What You Offer Us:

    + High School diploma preferred but not required

    + Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

    + Lab related or other agricultural experience preferred but not required

    + Functional in Microsoft applications including Excel and Word

    + The targeted base pay range for this role is $22 to $24 with this range reflecting differences in candidate knowledge, skills, and experience.
