Job Description:Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
The Department of Mathematics at Iowa State University invites applications for two-year postdoctoral position(s) with possible extension to a third year, subject to the availability of funding and satisfactory performance. The expected start date is January 16, 2026, with the end date of December 15, 2027.
Duties will include carrying a 2-1 teaching load and will be involved with mentoring undergraduate students in research through the Iowa State Math Research Teams (ISMaRT, https://sites.google.com/view/ismart-iastate).
Required Minimum Qualifications:
PhD in Mathematics or a closely related discipline obtained by the appointment date. Research interests in mathematical biology.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Experience teaching and mentoring students.
+ Strong coding experience, preferably in Python.
Department/Program & College Description:
This position is in mathematical biology, aligning with the research interests of Prof. Claus Kadelka. This includes work on two NSF-funded projects on "Canalization and Other Design Principles of Gene Regulatory Network Models" (https://www.nsf.gov/awardsearch/showAward?AWD\_ID=2451973) and "A mathematical theory for the biological concept of modularity” (https://www.nsf.gov/awardsearch/showAward?AWD\_ID=2424632).
