    How you'll help us Keep Climbing (overview & key responsibilities)

     

    This Specialist

    role will manage the day-to-day administration of the Disability and Leave

    Programs. This position will serve as a professional

    subject matter expert in the area of Disability and Leaves (FMLA, Military,

    state, corporate) benefits to all divisions and ensure compliance with relevant

    laws and regulations while minimizing financial risk to the organization.

     

    This position is based in the Atlanta

    General Offices, and report to the Manager, Disability & Leaves under

    the Global Health & Wellbeing (GHW) organization.

     

    + Manage the day-to-day administration of theDisability and Leave Programs.

    + Responsible for the oversight of claims management andcommunication with employees, managers, attorneys, and Third-PartyAdministrator (TPA).

    + Serve as professional subject matter expert in the area ofDisability & Leaves (FMLA, Military, state, corporate) benefits to alldivisions and departments eligible for the programs, to include but not limitedto Human Resources, Corporate Safety, Labor Relations, Legal, andOperational/Station Management.

    + Proactively provide guidance and ongoing education to internal andexternal customers on Delta Air Lines policies and procedures as it pertains toDisability and Leave claims.Assist inthe education of internal business partners of the importance of early claimreporting, early return to work programs and other appropriate cost containmentmeasures that will provide positive outcomes for all parties involved.

    + Identify trends in service concerns, recommend the appropriatecourse of action for improvement and development of vendor performancestandards and adherence to contractual requirements. Ensure that claimshandling is conducted in compliance with applicable state regulations,disability plan, corporate policies and other legal requirements.Ensure compliance with relevant laws andregulations while minimizing financial risk to the organization.

    + Work closely with TPA and Delta HR to identify, de-escalate anddocument current or potential escalation situations, reaching out to employeeswhen issues arise in order to provide high levels of customer service andemployee advocacy.

    + Help to identify areas of opportunity in the highly integrated WorkComp and Disability Programs and work with management and operations tostreamline processes.

    What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)

    + 3 to 5 years of direct Disability and Leave Claims Managementand/or TPA vendor oversight experience with a large employer-based company.

    + Abilityto meet deadlines and work under pressure with minimal supervision and respondquickly to high priority requests.

    + Experience in Access, Excel, MS Office suite of products, andSAP.

    + Ability to use Insurance Carrier/TPA data and claims managementsystems to analyze claim data.

    + Understanding of technical claims procedures, medical protocols andInsurance Industry Best Practices.

    + Ability to practice good judgment in interpreting medical factspresented by a physician and applying these facts in determining disability andan employee’s ability to return to work.

    + Excellent critical, logical-thinking, analytical, and researchskills.

    + Must demonstrate clear, concise, and effective oral and writtencommunication skills. Convey moderately complex information (claim decisions,outcomes, etc.) to all appropriate parties, while maintaining a professionaldemeanor in all situations.

    + Ability to anticipate problems and suggest opportunities/solutions.

    + Must possess ability to effectively interact with a variety ofindividuals within the company, clients, carriers, and vendororganizations.

    + Must be versatile, resilient, responsive to change, and adapt tounexpected demands based on business needs.

    + Should possess an overall knowledge of company policies andprocedures.

    + Good time management skills, multi-tasking skills, projectmanagement skills and organizational skills with attention to detail.

    + Must be able to travel 30%-40%, when required.

    + Consistentlyprioritizes safety and security of self, others, and personal data.

    + Embraces diversepeople, thinking, and styles.

    + Is at least 18years of age and has authorization to work in the United States

    What will give you a competitive edge (preferred qualifications)

    + Bachelor’s degreein business, RiskManagement, Human Resources Management, BSN, Vocational Rehabilitation, orclosely related field.

    + Experience inaviation industry is a plus
