Bluegrass Orthopaedics is hiring a full-time Radiologic Technologist in Lexington, KY. The Radiologic Technologist operates imaging equipment and performs diagnostic procedures. Obtains patient history, explains routine procedures and addresses patient concerns. May perform diagnostic imaging procedures under the supervision of a Radiologist and/or physician. Prepares and maintains records and files as directed. Cleans and adjusts equipment. Job Relationship 1. Reports to Radiology Manager 2. Positions supervised: none 3. Non-Exempt position Qualifications Prefer Associates degree in Applied Science with a current license to perform X-Ray. Current ARRT license. Current Kentucky State Radiation Operator. Job Knowledge 1. EMR/PMS Greenway Intergy preferred 2. Medical Terminology 3. OSHA 4. Healthcare compliance 5. ALARA 6. ARRT Code of Ethics Skills and Abilities Organization. Strong Communication Skills. Trained to perform X-Ray. Work efficiently with other technologists. Responsibilities To accomplish this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform, with or without reasonable accommodation and supervision, each essential function satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to help enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Prepare patients for radiologic procedures. Escort patients in and out of x-ray rooms, provide verbal and/or written instructions and assist patients in positioning body parts to be radiographed. Explain procedures and observe patients to ensure patient care, safety and comfort during scan. Operate radiologic equipment to produce images of the body for diagnostic purposes. Position radiologic equipment and adjust controls to set exposure time and distance according to specification of examination. Take x-rays following established radiologic requirements and regulations to ensure patient care and safety. Use radiation safety measures and protection devices to ensure safety of patients and team members. Ensure radiologic equipment remains in working order. Report equipment malfunctions to X ray Lead or Radiology Manager. Input X ray orders to EMR worklist. Maintain adequate radiologic supplies by communicating with X ray Leads or Radiology Manager when supplies are low. Serve as a back-up for clinical team members as needed by controlling patient flow, obtaining blood pressure measurements, documenting vital signs in the EMR. Maintain all professional licenses and provide copies to the Radiology Manager. Perform all other duties as assigned. Physical Requirements 1. Good visual acuity, hand-finger dexterity, ability to speak and hear. 2. Able to lift and carry in excess of 25 pounds, which may require pushing, pulling and essentially utilizing a full range of body movement. 3. Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, grasp and stand for extended periods of time. Standards: 1. Understands and follows the standards of the Bluegrass Orthopaedic Employee Manual 2.
