VCA Arboretum View Animal Hospital has an opportunity available for a Client Liaison to join our fast-paced, AAHA-accredited, 24-hour emergency/specialty referral practice in Downers Grove, Illinois. The applicants must be motivated and dedicated workers with a strong work ethic, excellent client communication skills and well demonstrated professionalism. Applicants must be able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, multi-task and demonstrate attention to detail while handling heavy caseload.

This unique position merges the responsibilities of a receptionist with those of a veterinary assistant. In this position, you will work hand in hand with our emergency/critical care department. The ideal candidate will have outstanding client service skills, be able to multi-task, work independently. Previous animal hospital experience is required. Schedule to be determined, with some weekend and holiday coverage required.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Requirements:

+ Dependable attendance is required.

+ Telephone and computer skills are necessary.

+ Client communication and education – explaining disease processes and lab work results, administration of medications, follow-up care.

+ Assisting technicians in nursing care – IV placement, IV fluids, injectable medications, oral medications, animal handling.

+ Efficiency – organize daily duties and procedures to best utilize staff’s time.

+ Flexibility – working to ensure that the job is done properly (willing to work beyond scheduled hours if necessary).

+ Medical records – charges, medical history, medications, laboratory reports, etc.

+ Assisting technicians in diagnostics – ECG, BP, SPO2, blood draws, preparing samples and lab forms.

+ Pharmacy – familiarity with drugs, creating labels, filling and phoning in prescriptions.

Compensation: $18.00-22.00/hr dependent on experience
