Scope of Job
Position Overview:
The UTRGV Center for Innovation & Commercialization ( CIC ) is seeking a creative and detail-oriented Graduate Assistant to support marketing, communications, and event promotion efforts. This position will play a key role in increasing awareness and engagement with CIC programs, events, and competitions through social media, digital content, and on-campus initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Oversee and manage CIC’sFacebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, LinkTree, and StartupTreepages.
+ Create engaging content, includingcaptions, photos, videos, reels, infographics, and flyersto promote CIC activities.
+ UseCapCutto edit and produce short-form video content and reels.
+ UseCanvato design professional marketing materials (flyers, brochures, infographics, and social media graphics).
+ UseLoomyto schedule social media posts.
+ Monitor CIC social media accounts, track engagement, and respond to comments/messages.
+ Track and reportsocial media engagement metricsmonthly.
+ Create and distribute amonthly CIC newsletter.
+ Takephotos and videosduring CIC programs, events, and competitions.
+ Interview students, faculty, staff, entrepreneurs, community members, alumni, and other participantsto gather testimonials about their CIC experience.
+ Create and maintain adatabase of videos and photosfor CIC promotional use.
+ Draft and distributepress releasesto inform the community of CIC’s upcoming programs, events, and competitions.
+ Maintain project management updates throughMonday.com.
+ Assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of CIC and UTRGV on-campus events across the Rio Grande Valley.
+ Provideadministrative supportand assist CIC staff in the office as needed.

Discipline Specific Required Qualifications
Qualifications:
+ Must be a current graduate student at UTRGV (enrolled in Fall 2025, Spring 2026, and Summer 2026).
+ Strong written and verbal communication skills.
+ Comfortable conducting interviews and engaging with diverse groups of people.
+ Experience with social media platforms and content creation.
+ Experience writing press releases.
+ Proficiency inCapCut, Canva, and Microsoft Office;
+ Creativity, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
+ Strong organizational and time-management skills.
+ Ability to attend and assist with events, including occasional evenings or weekends.
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity withMonday.com,a project management software andLoomly,a tool for scheduling social media posts.
