Cleveland-Cliffs Steel has an immediate opportunity for multiple Shift Managers Operations at our East Chicago, Indiana operation. The Shift Manager Operations is a front-line supervisory role responsible for coordinating safety, quality, and production activities on a designated production line. This position ensures operational excellence through leadership, discipline, and collaboration with cross-functional teams. Summary of Responsibilities

+ Supervise and direct hourly employees.

+ Ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards.

+ Conduct timely safety, quality, and environmental audits.

+ Uphold and enforce job procedures and maintain crew discipline.

+ Monitor operations and take corrective action as needed.

+ Supervise and schedule hourly personnel, both on the shop floor and from the shift manager’s office.

+ Ensure proper training and utilization of direct reports.

+ Collaborate with maintenance, planning, and scheduling teams to develop work lists for repairs and preventive maintenance.

+ Make operational decisions under pressure, following corporate policies.

+ Lead process improvement initiatives to enhance reliability, quality, and productivity.

+ Communicate effectively with upstream/downstream teams and contractors.

+ Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

+ High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent from an accredited school.

+ Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience.

+ At least 2 years of heavy industry, manufacturing, or military experience.

+ Analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot and solve problems.

+ Proficient in Microsoft Office.

+ Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

+ Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Preferred Qualifications

+ Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in business, technology, or related discipline.

+ Experience in a union environment.

+ Experience in steel manufacturing or a similar industrial setting.
