About the Position: Serves as a Traffic Management Specialist reporting to the Chief, G37-Exercises, Readiness, Training, and Integration Division. Incumbent performs a variety of duties in support of exercises and readiness such as planning, developing and coordinating doctrinal reviews/updates related to transportation management. Responsibilities Coordinate exercise planning and participation to ensure synchronization of transportation operations and mission-essential tasks. Monitor and assess transportation readiness and performance through after-action reviews, readiness assessments, and lessons learned analysis to recommend improvements. Interpret and apply transportation policies, directives, and regulations (e.g., Defense Transportation Regulation) to provide authoritative guidance to units, terminals, and commercial partners. Oversee and project budget requirements for exercise-related travel, per diem, and operational expenses; conduct analyses and prepare justifications. Develop training objectives and exercise guidance aligned with Joint Mission Essential Tasks (JMETs) to strengthen unit readiness and capability. Maintain situational awareness of global transportation operations and regulatory requirements to ensure exercise programs remain compliant and effective. Represent the Command in working groups, briefings, and conferences to communicate transportation priorities, coordinate planning, and advance exercise-related initiatives. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service which includes 1) Assisting with an organizations transportation exercise readiness program, 2) Analyzing after-action reports to address readiness deficiencies, and 3) Operating a transport or traffic system where there is accountability for the programs operating costs. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this position, at the GS-12 level, you must meet the Specialized experience requirement alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Communications Planning and Evaluating Transportation Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11). Education Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct deposit of pay is required. Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees. In the event of a crisis situation, the incumbent, or designated alternate, must continue to perform the Key duties until relieved by proper authority. The incumbent, or the designated alternate, may be required to take part in readiness exercises. This position cannot be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization without seriously impairing the capability of the organization to function effectively, therefore, the position is designated "Key", which requires the incumbent, or designated alternate, to be screened from military recall status.
