    We are seeking a **_Director Communications & Marketing,_** **_Institute for Policy Solutions (IPS)_** who will plan, design, implement and manage communications, marketing, earned media, owned media and paid media strategy and programs for a division with overall responsibility for advancing division initiatives. Will shape and advance the communications strategy, message, and brand across local, state, national and/or global communications. The Communications & Marketing Director may work closely with faculty, staff, students, the central communications & marketing team, and other media departments to ensure a comprehensive and coherent strategy through which communication materials are disseminated.

     

    The Director will be responsible for ensuring accurate representation of a division on multiple media platforms, for budget development, implementation and fiscal approval of communications and media-related projects.

    Specific Duties & Responsibilities

    + Providing vision, leadership, and counsel for the Initiative’s communications, including articulating, and overseeing an integrated communications plan.

    + Developing and implementing a stakeholder communications strategy to share the Initiative’s work with key stakeholders including but not limited to funders, school leadership, industry partners, and policymakers.

    + Proactively identifying strategic communication opportunities with internal and external partners. Developing benchmark criteria to track and evaluate the effectiveness of the communications strategies on a regular basis.

    + Responsible for visibility, branding, and promotion of the school/division/center through a variety of approaches, e.g., online and print media, radio/tv.

    + Creating and overseeing the creation of original content across a variety of platforms, across current and emerging channels.

    + Provide consultation and advice to the school/division/center senior leadership, faculty and staff on communications and marketing strategies and concerns.

    + Formulating and managing a comprehensive media relations strategy and program at the local, state, and national levels encompassing print, television, and social media outlets.

    + Establish effective communications and marketing policies and procedures, including identifying and selecting the most effective approaches.

    + Direct communications and marketing research to provide sound advice and consultation to school/division leadership.

    + Evaluate the effectiveness of communications and marketing efforts and implement changes and best practices.

    + Foster relationships with various media outlets; may have national and international scope.

    + Collaborate with development staff representing respective area to develop effective fund-raising materials.

    + Manages professional staff; manage budget for department.

    + Overseeing budget, implementation and fiscal approval of communications and media-related projects. Developing and managing agreements and contracts with external communications rms.

    + Perform other related duties as requested.

    Minimum Qualifications

    + Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Marketing, or related field.

    + Ten years of related experience.

    + Additional education may substitute for required experience, and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond a high school diploma/graduation equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

    The Institute for Policy Solutions (IPS) at the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing takes an interdisciplinary, cross-university approach through collaborative discovery, design and dialogue. Institute scholars and researchers will develop and test practical new approaches and solutions that can translate to practice and policy change.

    Classified Title: Director Communications & Marketing

    Role/Level/Range: L/04/LE

    Starting Salary Range: $86,300 - $151,000 Annually ($118,600 targeted; Commensurate w/exp.)

     

    Employee group: Full Time

     

    Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:30 - 5:00

     

    FLSA Status: Exempt

    The listed salary range represents the minimum and maximum Johns Hopkins University offers for this position, based on a good faith estimate at the time of posting. Actual compensation will vary depending on factors such as location, skills, experience, market conditions, education, and internal equity. Not all candidates will qualify for the highest salary in the range.
