    Hours Part-time, include requirement and total hours per week - as needed, not to exceed 16 hours per week

    Summary of Position

    Instruct continuing education courses in Clinical Medical Assistant curriculum. A maximum of 16 hrs. is allowed per week. Instructor Pool.

     

    We are seeking an experienced and passionate PT and/or on-call Medical Assistant Instructor to perpetuate our remarkable outcomes with our students. The instructor creates, manages, and participates in a variety of learning environments and activities that provide opportunities for students to develop to their fullest potential and achieve their learning objectives. The instructor participates collaboratively and professionally with other faculty and staff to promote the general well-being of the department and the college and of the collective and individual interests of its staff and student body. The instructor supports and seeks always to fulfill the guiding concepts for the college embodied in the philosophy, mission, values, and vision adopted by the college.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

    + Provide for the safety of students and co-workers. Always attend to a safety hazard or potential safety hazard immediately. Assume responsibility for the orderliness of the learning environment and in the appropriate and safe use of instructional facilities and equipment.

    + Class preparation: Takes time each day to prepare lesson material. Possess a thorough understanding of the course material and follow the lesson plans. Prepare in advance to see that students have sufficient materials and equipment to complete all classes and lab assignments.

    + Instructional training: Implements instructional training techniques in the classroom. Is effective in generating classroom participation through question asking, student presentations, and group exercises. Correlate the class lesson to the shop/lab lesson.

    + Organize, plan, and prepare students’ lab/shop projects and provide effective “hands-on training.” Ensure materials and/or equipment are ready and available.

    + Student retention: Identifies all “at-risk” students (attendance, academics, and conduct related), and takes a proactive role in assisting “at-risk” students with tutoring, encouragement, and working with the Program Director, Student Services Coordinator, and Student Retention Specialist to keep them in school.

    + Student competencies: Organizes, manages, and ensures the completion of students’ effective and psychomotor competencies for each course.

    + Attendance: Take roll call twice a schedule, post attendance on the instructor portal every day before midnight.

    + Student documentation: Documented timely and accurately all issues pertaining to the student(s) (i.e., behavior issues, absenteeism, tardiness, unable to perform tasks/skills, lack of participation, or unable to work with others).

    + Classroom management: Maintain an orderly classroom always, and control over students’ behavior always, and do not allow students to disrupt the learning environment.

    + Listen to students and co-workers to resolve conflicts and establish effective communication.

    + Understand, follow, and enforce school rules, policies, and procedures.

    + Keep the curriculum, performance standards, competencies, lesson plans, and tests current with industry needs.

    + Effective online communication- Instructors need to communicate professionally always, and when providing feedback on discussion boards to each student, it must be constructive and provoke critical thinking to have an ongoing “thread” of discussions with students in the class.

    Minimum Required Education

    + High School or GED required with acceptable combinations of education and work experience.

    + Pertinent degrees or certifications when required for subject matter taught.

    + 3-5+ years clinical healthcare experience as a Medical Assistant or Nurse;

    + Preferred Education: Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing; Nursing License ( LVN , ADN , RN) or CCMA Certification; Must be CCMA , CMA , RMA , or NCMA certified.

    Minimum Required Experience

    + Three to five years experience working in subject area to be taught.

    + Proven experience in Phlebotomy, EKG and Medical Office Administration.

    + A passion for making a difference in the lives of students pursuing healthcare careers

    + Experience in creating an inspirational atmosphere and being a champion for success and positive outcomes

    + Computer, spreadsheet & word processing skills

    Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    + Ability to maintain an effective classroom learning atmosphere.

    + Ability to work under precise and exacting conditions.

    + Ability to interact effectively with the public, students, faculty and college personnel.

    + Must possess good presentation skills and the ability to speak in public.

    + Effective verbal and written communication skills, plus analytical, organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.

    + Proficient in computer skills.

    + Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English fluently.

    + Must be customer service-oriented.

    + Ability and willingness to comply with school policies and procedures.

    + Ability to evaluate objectively, fairly, and consistently.
