The Philosophy Department at Binghamton University, State University of New York, is conducting an open rank search for a professor with a research specialization in Social and Political Philosophy, and/or Ethics, and/or Philosophy of Law. We are taking a broad look at promising research programs in all of these areas. We will hire at the level of Assistant, Associate, or Full, depending on the successful candidate's experience and qualifications. We will give serious consideration to eligible applicants at any stage of career, but a demonstrated trajectory of high scholarly achievement is required.

Excellence in research and an appreciation of pluralism in philosophical inquiry are essential. The successful candidate will teach graduate and undergraduate courses, supervise teaching assistants, serve on thesis and dissertation committees, direct graduate-level work, and actively participate in department colloquia and other programming.

The ability to contribute to the philosophical breadth of our course offerings is also welcome. As a department, we are committed to maintaining instructional quality at all levels, and demonstrated teaching effectiveness is highly valued.
