Overview
The Legal AI Governance & Integration Lead will be a key architect in shaping the AAA’s legal frameworks and compliance strategies for AI-infused products. This leadership role integrates legal expertise with AI fluency to ensure trustworthy, ethical, and strategically aligned deployment of machine intelligence. As a linchpin between legal, technical, and executive teams, the Lead steers governance protocols, AI knowledge ecosystems, and model validation pipelines—empowering AI innovation while ensuring defensibility, fairness, and regulatory readiness.
Compensation: $163,000 to $175,000 annual salary plus 20% incentive target
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Trust Architecture & Compliance
+ Act as AI legal evaluator for all system-generated outputs that impact contractual, regulatory, or dispute-related decisions.
+ Serve as the enterprise lead for AI legal risk mitigation, model validation, and compliance with evolving global AI laws (e.g., EU AI Act, NIST frameworks).
+ Monitor, interpret, and operationalize global data privacy regulations as they relate to AI development and deployment, ensuring alignment across all data-driven functions.
+ Partner with Privacy and Information Security teams to integrate privacy-by-design principles into AI product lifecycles.
AI Integration & Enablement
+ Translate legal principles into computable logic for AI development through strategic prompt design, model governance standards, and feedback loops.
+ Collaborate with AI Engineers, Data Scientists, and Product Owners to integrate legal-ethics principles into system architecture and product strategy.
Human-AI Oversight & Evaluation
+ Spearhead a multidisciplinary “human-in-the-loop” QA model for AI outputs, emphasizing interpretability, consistency, and cultural-legal nuance.
+ Guide the development of AI audit protocols and lead periodic cross-functional reviews with Ethics, Security, and Compliance teams.
Cross-Functional Knowledge Transfer
+ Maintain up-to-date knowledge of and track the regulatory landscape for AI.
+ Provide legal training and guidance on emerging AI risks, privacy, and ethics.
+ Serve as a voting member of the AI Governance Committee and AI Enablement Committee.
+ Liaise with the AAA Innovation and Data teams to align legal requirements with product roadmaps.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
+ J.D. from an accredited institution; licensed and in good standing with at least one state bar admission in the U.S.
+ 5-7 years of legal experience with a strong track record in AI, data governance, and privacy (including IAPP privacy certification or comparable).
+ Demonstrated leadership in cross-disciplinary environments, ideally including digital transformation or AI implementation initiatives.
+ Exposure to machine learning concepts, generative AI models, and algorithmic auditing frameworks.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
+ Comprehensive knowledge of litigation procedures, alternative dispute resolution, and relevant state and federal regulations. Ability to conduct legal research, interpret complex legal issues, and provide sound advice.
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to express complex legal concepts clearly to both legal and non-legal audiences. Strong presentation and negotiation skills.
+ Sharp analytical skills with the ability to identify potential legal issues, assess risks, and develop effective solutions. Demonstrated capacity for strategic thinking and sound judgment.
+ Understanding of business operations and the ability to align legal strategies with organizational goals. Proficiency in legal technology and case management systems.
