Job Summary and Qualifications

The Advanced Practice Practitioner practices in an advanced practice role to provide cardiovascular care for the cardiac surgery patient population including assessment, diagnosis, and initiation of treatment and procedures and oversees the coordination of cardiac surgery patients’ course of care during the hospital stay. The incumbent works in conjunction with Cardiovascular Services, Perioperative Services, Nursing Staff, and Medical Staff to ensure the highest level of care for patients.

+ You will demonstrate a thorough knowledge of the entire continuum of care for cardiac surgery patients.

+ You will formulate the appropriate differential diagnosis based on history, physical examination, and clinical findings and identify medical and health risks and needs.

+ You will demonstrate a thorough knowledge of cardiovascular/cardiac surgery standards of care and will interact with patients, prospective patients, patient families, nursing staff, medical staff, Cardiovascular Services staff, administrative team, and all ancillary staff.

+ You will communicate with appropriate personnel and physicians to facilitate patient progress as indicated and collaborate with staff and leadership to assess the education needs of patients and their families.

+ You will make recommendations regarding plan of care for complex/involved patients and consistently follows policies, procedures, and standards of care in practice.

What qualifications you will need:

+ Masters degree in NP or graduate from a PA program

+ California RN License or California Physician Assistant License

+ ACLS and BCLS certifications

+ National Nurse Practitioner Certification, and registered to practice as an NP or Physician Assistant

+ Preferred two years mid-level experience in an acute care setting

+ In-depth knowledge of Cardiovascular/ Cardiac Surgery standards of care and regulatory standards
