    The School of Criminal Justice invites applications for a full-time tenure-track faculty appointment at the academic rank of Assistant Professor to begin Fall 2026. The area of research focus is open. Candidates should be able to effectively teach a 2-2 load of relevant undergraduate and graduate courses, mentor graduate and undergraduate students, and engage in service to the School, University, community, and profession.

     

    Applicants should provide a current curriculum vitae, a letter of application addressing each of the qualifications outlined in the position announcement, and statements of research and teaching interests and experience. They should address in their application their ability to work with and instruct a diverse population.

    Functional and Supervisory Relationships:

    + Reports to: SCJ Senior Executive Director

    + Supervises the following positions: none

    + May supervise employees as assigned (if no direct reports at time of filling position)

    Job Requirements:

    + Candidates must be willing to contribute to the University's priorities, including research, student success, diversity and inclusion, and community engagement and service.

    Job Requirements:

    Minimum Qualifications:

    + A Ph.D. in criminal justice, criminology, or related discipline (e.g., sociology, political science, psychology, economics) is required, in hand by August 15, 2026. Degrees must be from a university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized accrediting organization.

    + Evidence of a research program in criminal justice or criminology.

    + Demonstrated potential for publications in criminal justice or criminology.

    + Demonstrated potential for effectively teaching undergraduate and graduate criminal justice or criminology courses.

    + Applicants must demonstrate an ability to develop inclusive and equitable relationships within our diverse campus community

    + Applicants must demonstrate an ability to support diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and belonging relative to their role

    Preferred Qualifications:

    + A record of quality publications in criminal justice or criminology.

    + Experience teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses in criminal justice or criminology.

    + A record of, or demonstrated potential for, applying for and obtaining external funding for research.

    Working Environment:

    + Typical academic environment

    + Self-directed research agenda

    + Responsible for effective management of students/classroom

    Professional Rank and Salary Range: Assistant Professor, salary commensurate with experience.
