Job Summary
Responsible for planning stocking levels and replenishment times and quantities on make-to-stock products to support forecasted sales in all company locations. Develops and maintains statistical forecasts based on historical sales and other inputs, to support sales, as well as inventory turns targets.
Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities
+ Establish and maintain item planning parameters to support supply chain lead times, production efficiencies, minimum buy quantities, customer demand, and variations in supply and demand.
+ Create monthly forecast and load into ERP system for supply chain planning and execution. Utilize tools, market intelligence, and sales feedback.
+ Ensure adequate materials are available to meet the requirements for each plant, based on the master production schedule and calculated by the MRP system, while supporting inventory and turns goals.
+ Primary contact for internal customers for product availability, new products, end of life (phase in/out), economic order and manufacturing quantities, etc.
+ Analyze excess inventory against planned replenishment to determine if redeployment of inventory is preferable to replenishment.
+ Process ERP workbenches for replenishment of inventory.
+ Participate in daily scoreboard/accountability meetings, as well as cross-functional planning meetings as required.
+ Understand and maintain departmental metrics for Slow Moving/Excess Inventory, On Time, Inventory Turns, Late Lines, and Forecast Accuracy.
+ Assist in other activities as directed, including: capacity studies, system optimization and maintenance, and packaging standardization.
+ Work cross functionally with Customer Service, Sales, Marketing, Manufacturing, Purchasing, etc.
Nature and Scope
+ Identifies key barriers/core problems and applies problem solving skills in order to deal creatively with complex situations. Troubleshoots and resolves complex problems. Makes decisions under conditions of uncertainty, sometimes with incomplete information, that produce effective end results.
+ Independently performs assignments with instruction limited to the expected results. Determines and develops an approach to solutions. Receives technical guidance only on unusual or complex problems or issues.
+ May oversee the completion of projects and assignments, including planning, assigning, monitoring and reviewing progress and accuracy of work, evaluating results, etc. Contributes to employees' professional development but does not have hiring or firing authority.
Work Environment
+ Typically located in a comfortable environment but with regular exposure to factors that may cause noticeable discomfort or a moderate risk of accident or illness, such as temperature extremes, moving machinery, loud noises, and fumes.
+ Most of the time is spent sitting in the same position or standing/walking and/or there is some requirement to lift or handle material or equipment of moderate weight (8-20 pounds).
+ Typically requires overnight travel 5% to 20% of the time.
Education and Experience
+ Typically requires BS/BA in a related discipline. Generally 5-8 years of experience in a related field OR MS/MA and generally 3-5 years of experience in a related field. Certification is required in some areas.
