    BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

    Saint-Gobain is a leading worldwide producer of abrasives, building materials, high-performance plastics, insulation, flat glass, glass containers, piping, reinforcements and industrial ceramics. The Saint-Gobain Bonded Abrasives manufacturing facility is the manufacturer of bonded abrasives; natural or synthetic grains molded into numerous shapes of grinding wheels. Super Abrasive Wheels manufactures products using the world’s hardest materials: diamond or cubic boron nitride (CBN) and are in the form of grinding wheels; used to shape materials that are too hard or too fragile for conventional abrasives.

     

    This role requires previous engineering experience due to the complexity of projects it oversees and the judgment required to handle a variety of variables. It requires someone highly motivated, hands-on, and results oriented. Projects are designed to assist the plant and departments in increasing production, improving quality and/or reducing costs through process, product, equipment, materials and/or methods development and improvements. Projects frequently involve interaction with other disciplines and occasionally with customers, both domestic and international. Saint-Gobain maintains a world class manufacturing environment employing lean techniques to drive the production systems and overall efficiency and effectiveness of the plant.• Bachelors of Science with a degree in mechanical or material science engineering or related field is required. Masters degree would be a plus • Minimum of 3-5 years’ work experience in manufacturing/abrasives • A working knowledge of the ISO 9001 standard • Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification • Understanding of lean manufacturing and Six Sigma • Ability to contribute and manage portions of a world class manufacturing program • Working knowledge of health, safety and environmental laws • Must be proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) • Ability to perform root cause analysis on process and customer complaint issues • Understands and can implement basic and advanced project and diagnostic tools such as PFMEA, SPC, DOEs, Cause and Effect charts/Paretos, and DMAIC techniques among others. • Advanced knowledge of diagnostic tools • Highly proficient in 8D methodology • Able to write clearly and speak convincingly as a large amount of time is spent working with people within and outside of the company • Ability to be self-directed and work in a cross-functional team (Manufacturing, Sales, Research, and Engineering) • Able to manage/oversee certain capital projects to ensure compliance with all SG standards as well as regulatory requirements and compatibility to current or future infrastructure requirements • Can develop, design and coordinate the installation of plant and process equipment on time and within budget. • Experience of Semi-conductor / Electronics / Pharmaceutical/ Medical manufacturing industry is desirable • Clean room experience is desirableThis role will be servicing the semi-conductor market with a fast moving pace. This complexity requires the ability of the individual to multi-task and maintain focus on multiple projects and tasks. Projects will be designed to assist the plant in achieving the SGA Electronics business growth goals and objectives as they relate to safety, productivity, quality, and service to meet semi-conductor industry customer expectations.

     

    The successful candidate will posses a high level of initiative, ability to handle multiple responsibilities, and directed accountabilities to ensure successful completion of projects assigned by the Technical Manager. He/she works within a framework of practices and precedents and establishes priorities and schedules within the framework of agreed upon production plans. He/she works with multi-disciplinary team/R&D for industrialization and development of new product.
