    Job Title: Tool and Die Maker- Travel contract 6 months-2 years

     

    Pay: $33-40/hr

     

    Per diem: $120-$150/day

     

    We are looking for experience Tool and Die maker professionals who have experience with precision tooling and machining.

    This is a Contract (option for contract to hire) based out of various locations including Solon, Ohio & St. Louis, MO.

    Job Description

    As a Tool and Die Maker, you will plan, layout, construct, maintain, alter, and repair complex multi-station progressive, single purpose blanking, piercing, and forming dies, along with various drills, holding, and clamping fixtures. Your role will involve designing dies, making or directing detailed drawings, and working from drawings, sketches, samples, and instructions. You will visualize finished jobs, perform necessary mathematical calculations, and select allowances for fitting and finishing.

    Responsibilities

    + Plan, layout, and execute intricate machining operations on tool room equipment with exacting setups and adjustments to maintain close tolerances.

    + Conduct skilled bench and hand operations.

    + Handle CNC equipment operations.

    + Determine necessary repairs on dies returned to the tool room and perform emergency repairs.

    + Perform die grinding, shimming, and replacement of progressive die components.

    + Create repair parts or machined items for special orders.

    + Try out dies in tool room press and suggest improvements to enhance operation or reduce maintenance time.

    + Diagnose and correct operational issues in production.

    + Prepare complex print programs using advanced math or computer programming languages.

    + Instruct and assist other employees to overcome difficulties.

    + Aid in setting up plant equipment as needed.

    + Report faulty equipment, defective materials, and unusual conditions to the supervisor.

    + Observe all safety rules and maintain a neat work area.

    Essential Skills

    + Proficiency with drill press, shear, braiding, machine operating, lathe, grinder, and mill.

    + Experience with machining and programming tool and die equipment.

    + Ability to read and interpret blueprints.

    + Competency in using calipers, micrometers, thread gauges, and go/no-go gauges.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Journeyman's card or equivalent years of experience in the trade.

    + Ideally 3+ years of relevant experience.

    + Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to make informed decisions.

    + Good organizational skills and strong attention to detail.

    + Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment.

    + Self-motivated, safety, and quality-conscious.

    + Capability to lift heavy objects (35 lbs).

    Work Environment

     

    This role operates in a stamping facility primarily producing fasteners for the steel industry. The position includes working in shifts: 2nd shift from 3pm to 11pm with a $2 shift differential and 3rd shift from 11pm to 7am with a $1.50 shift differential. Candidates must be open to working Saturdays and Sundays, with double-time pay on Sundays if it is the seventh day worked.     The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $40.00/hr.
