    Overview

     

    Tanaq Management Services (TMS) delivers professional, scientific, and technical services and information technology (IT) solutions to federal agencies in the health, agriculture, technology, and other government services. TMS is a subsidiary of the St. George Tanaq Corporation, an Alaskan Native Corporation (ANC) committed to serving Federal customers while also giving back to the Tanaq native community and shareholders.

     

    About the Role

     

    We are seeking a highly motivated **Data Manager V** to support ongoing projects within public health for our federal customer. This position will involve supporting various laboratory projects, including the development of new vaccines, the study of infectious diseases, molecular epidemiology, and surveillance. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to collaborate with various agencies and contribute to necessary research, making a difference in the fight against disease.

     

    This is a fully onsite position at our customer's location in Atlanta, Georgia. This position is contingent on contract award.

    Responsibilities

    + Provide data management and data quality support for next-generation sequencing data (NGS) and paired laboratory and/or epidemiological metadata

    + Administer and organize laboratory data by using relevant database packages and other data management software/systems (e.g., R, Microsoft Access, Microsoft Power Platform, Excel, SAS).

    + Perform data quality assurance activities, including identifying and resolving any inconsistencies in data flow, data outside legitimate ranges, and illogical data responses by developing data quality reports and investigating and resolution of data anomalies, or errors by using a combination of software packages, including SAS or R, MS Access and Excel, and other software as warranted.

    + Create visualizations for NGS data and quality monitoring using Power BI, R, and other data visualization tools.

    + Manage, manipulate, and transform data that are stored in a variety of file formats, such as SAS datasets, Microsoft Access, Microsoft Excel, SQL, BSON/JSON and ASCII files.

    + Maintain and support the following data management lifecycle activities: execute the coordination of data entry processes, create data entry forms in software packages such as Microsoft Power Platform, Microsoft Access and perform data entry.

    + Support tracking problem resolutions related to data quality assurance activities by maintaining data-correction logbooks and files in order to improve the quality of the data collection and acquisition processes.

    + Create and modify scripts used for data management (e.g., Python, R, Bash, SAS programs) and create documentation for programs describing their functions and associated processes and output.

    + Support the design, development, and implementation of tools to manage NGS data, track submission of sequences to public databases (e.g., NCBI) and integrate epidemiologic data.

    + Support NGS and lab data analyses, by:

    + Integration of information for NGS runs, leveraging pertinent wet-bench and dry-bench data.

    + Performing analyses of data for molecular epidemiological studies using SAS or an equivalent package (e.g., R).

    + Developing and presenting analytical data files to COR and program designee (e.g., project managers and other researchers).

    + Ensuring the security and confidentiality of analytical data files and provide data file documentation describing the scientific data source.

    + Conducting molecular epidemiological analyses by applying appropriate statistical techniques (e.g., multivariate modeling techniques such as linear regression, logistic regression, generalized linear models, and survival analysis)

    + Support researchers in developing analytical programs in SAS or R and guide researchers in determining the appropriate statistical techniques to apply to their analyses.

    + Provide support with the design and analysis of studies applying NGS methods, including the selection of appropriate statistical methods and sample size.

    + Provide support with the database development and analysis of data related to branch outbreak responses.

    + Communicate analytic results to internal staff and external partners in a clear, concise, and timely manner.

    + Provide support in preparing data and PowerPoint slides for visual presentation.

    + Provide support with pertinent quality-related duties, including drafting and revision of standardized operating procedures, drafting and completion of methods. verifications and validations for next-generation sequencing methods and analysis pipelines.

    + Develop and/or use innovative methodologies and techniques; search, synthesize, and interpret information relevant to public health.

    + Review and analyze studies and projects assessing major and/or sensitive public health issues in order to make recommendations for processes, procedures, and/or policies related to public health programs, practices, and research.

    + Provide support in gathering information for the strategic direction to fulfill the federal customers’ mission goals and objectives.

    Requirements

    Required Experience and Skills

    + 5-8 years of experience in data management, data integration, and visualizations.

    + Must have previous experience with next-generation sequencing (NGS) data.

    + Strong proficiency in SQL or Python, and data visualization software, including Microsoft Power BI, is required.

    + Strong experience using statistical packages SAS and R.

    + Proficiency in managing, manipulating, and transforming data that is stored in a variety of file formats, such as SAS datasets, Microsoft Access, Microsoft Excel, SQL, BSON/JSON, and ASCII files.

    + Previous experience creating scripts and extracting data (e.g., Python, R, Bash, SAS programs)

    + Proven track record in data quality assurance, including anomaly detection and resolution.

    + Experience performing molecular epidemiological analysis, studies, and outbreak response data analysis.

    + Ability to perform statistical modeling and analysis, including: Linear regression, logistic regression, generalized linear models, survival analysis.

    + Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

    + Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

    + Knowledge of public health principles and ability to synthesize information for strategic planning.

    + Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

    + Experience working for the federal government or in a public health setting is preferred.

    + Ability to obtain government clearance.

    + **Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.**

    Education and Training

    + PhD in Healthcare-related field, Computer Science, Statistics, Bioinformatics, or Computational Biology, with 5+ years of experience in data management, data integration, and visualizations; or MS in Healthcare-related field, Computer Science, Statistics, Bioinformatics, or Computational Biology, with 8+ years of experience in data management, data integration and visualizations.

    Physical Requirements

    + Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. May need to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
