    Job Summary

    Facilities Management at Auburn University (https://fm.auburn.edu/) is excited to begin the search for a **TES Solid Waste Technician** ! Assists in maintaining campus waste and recycling sites; collects and transports recyclable materials from inside and outside university buildings to enable the department to complete work efficiently.

     

    **Temporary Employment Services (TES )** , a unit of the Auburn University Department of Human Resources, is an in-house support center established to meet the temporary employment needs of the university.TES provides qualified and dedicated temporary employees in a wide variety of occupations to meet the staffing needs throughout the campus. Temporary employees are hired for a variety of reasons with the most common being:

    + Assistance in the place of a regular employee who is absent for a specified period of time

    + Additional assistance during periods of abnormal or peak workloads

    + Assistance with special projects

    + Seasonal work

    + Emergencies

    Essential Functions

    + Assists with the solid waste and recycling programs on campus by servicing waste and recycling containers inside and outside university buildings.

    + Operates vehicles and equipment to remove waste and collect recycling from university grounds. Removes and replaces waste and recycling containers when necessary.

    + Performs custodial-type tasks and handles cleaning, solid waste/recycling issues.

    + Keeps areas around dumpsters and waste and recycling sites clean and in neat order.

    + Works with custodians, groundskeepers, movers, and others who typically handle solid waste materials.

    Minimum Qualifications

    + High school diploma or equivalent;

    + Valid driver’s license

    + Ability to lift, carry or otherwise move a minimum of 50 pounds while performing job duties.

    + Interest or experience in solid waste and recycling techniques
