    Position Overview:

    The ideal candidate will establish policy views and implement advocacy strategies on matters related to corporate disclosure and corporate governance. The candidate is a registered lobbyist with responsibility for enacting policy change before regulatory agencies, Congress, and other organizations. The position primarily interfaces with corporate issuers on policy issues within the jurisdiction of the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board.

    Responsibilities:

    + Remain current on policy developments, including those related to shareholder proposals, proxy advisor firms, SEC corporate disclosure rules, the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), and the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CS3D).

    + Establish relationships and persuasively lobby policymakers in the executive branch, regulatory agencies, and Congress.

    + Mange member company working groups to develop policy positions and advocacy strategies.

    + Coordinate the development of research and studies.

    + Write comment letters to regulatory agencies.

    + Write letters to Congress expressing views on legislation.

    + Develop materials for speaking at public events.

    + Brief the senior vice president of CCMC and other leaders in the organization about engagements with member companies and material developments in public policy.

    + Partner with other divisions, including Communications, Government Affairs, and the U.S. Chamber Litigation Center, to achieve shared policy objectives.

    + Support paid and earned media campaigns run by the Communications team.

    + Build and manage coalitions of member companies and other stakeholders.

    + Direct the work of outside policy and government affairs consultants.

    Qualifications:

    + Bachelor's degree. Candidates with an advanced degree , such as a Juris Doctor (JD) or a relevant master's degree in fields like public policy or finance or an MBA, are strongly preferred.

    + 10+ years of experience working in Congress, the executive branch/regulatory agency, a trade association, or the government affairs office of a company focused on financial regulatory policy issues.

    + A thorough understanding of regulatory and legislative processes, with an awareness of the political factors that influence policy outcomes, and a proven track record of influencing public policy.

    + Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

    + Candidates with a strong background in public policy issues related to corporate reporting and corporate governance, as well as those with experience engaging with the SEC and the House Financial Services Committee or the Senate Banking Committee, will be given priority.

     

    The salary range for this position is $173,774 to $225,000. The actual salary paid for this position will vary based on market data, an applicant’s qualifications, relevant degrees, certifications, and other factors. Our full-time employees are eligible for benefits, including health care, vision, dental, retirement, and paid leave.
