Interested in joining a fast-paced work environment filled with caring professionals dedicated to improving the lives of vulnerable community members experiencing behavioral health and/or substance use disorders? The Nevada County Behavioral Health Department is looking for a Behavioral Health Worker to support client success!
We are currently seeking one part time, temporary Behavioral Health Worker (BHW) for the following programs and services. Please be sure to apply for all levels (BHW I, II, and III) which you may be qualified for. The BHW will be responsible for the following:
+ Provide case management for Adult BH clients in our Behavioral Health Access Team, performing services in our office-based clinic, in the field and community settings.
+ Conduct screenings and provide linkage and navigation services to individuals seeking mental health support.
+ Assess client needs, connect them with appropriate services, and offer ongoing support as clients transition to specialized mental health care.
+ Perform outreach activities to increase community knowledge of available services and supports.
+ BHW’s will work closely with clients to ensure they are informed, supported, and connected to the necessary resources within the county’s behavioral health system.
Our Behavioral Health Workers provide the following support to clients and community members:
+ Engagement: Develop positive, strengths-based relationships with individuals with behavioral health needs and/or substance use disorders.
+ Case Management: Link, monitor, and coordinate the development of personalized resources for individuals to facilitate engagement in recovery. Support client adherence to care plans that contain individualized goals and interventions.
+ Collaboration: Meet and communicate regularly with the law enforcement and court partners, mental health and substance use agencies, housing, and other community partners.
The ideal candidate for this position will perform well in teams but also be capable of independent work. We are looking for a strengths-based individual who is optimistic in their belief in the capacity of people to make positive changes in their lives, and has some understanding of or lived experience.
This position is part-time temporary; part-time employees work an average of 20 hours but not more than 29 hours per week, for a maximum of 960 hours per fiscal year. Temporary employees earn sick leave but are not eligible for other vacation or holiday pay, medical, dental, or vision benefits, or CalPERS.

Education and Experience Required
Equivalent to the completion of twelfth grade and experience working in a social work, behavioral health or substance abuse program dealing with individual's emotional and mental problems. Completion of college course work from an accredited college or university in psychology, social work, counseling or related field is preferred.
Some positions may require certification as an Alcohol and Drug Counselor within 5 years of appointment.

Sick Leave:
Temporary County employees shall accrue at the rate of one (1) hour of sick leave for each thirty (30) hours worked. Temporary County employees can accrue a maximum of 80 hours of sick leave which may be carried over from one fiscal year to the next.
Medical Benefits:
Temporary employees whose assignments average 30 hours per week or more are eligible to enroll in County-sponsored medical benefits.
