    Position Title:

    LTS Special Education Teacher (8:1:1)

    Anticipated Employment Date:

    Anticipated Work Location/Hours:

    Sidway Elementary 8:35 AM to 3:35 PM

    Salary:

    BA Step 1 $48,007 or MA Step 1 $50,670 per GITA contract

    Duties:

    Work collaboratively with a Kindergarten or 1st-grade team to provide high-quality instruction to students.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    1. NYS certification Childhood Education B-2 or Pre-K-6.

    2. NYS certification: SPED

    3. Possess a strong understanding of instruction in CCLS.

    4. Ability to use Data Driven Instruction to improve student achievement.

    5. Ability to cooperate and collaborate with the grade-level teams, special area teachers, and intervention teachers.

    6. Strong use of technology to support professional responsibilities; ability to integrate technology into instruction.

    7. Evidence of academic success at undergraduate and/or graduate level.

    8. Strong written and oral communication skills.

    9. Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans that foster students' academic, social, and emotional development.

    10. Create a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere where all students feel valued and supported.

    11. Use a variety of teaching methods and instructional resources to engage students in active learning.

    12. Assess and monitor student progress, providing timely feedback and support to ensure academic growth.

    13. Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and colleagues to support each student's learning and development.

    14. Foster a love of learning through interactive, hands-on activities and creative lessons.

    15. Maintain a safe and organized classroom environment.

    16. Experience in de escalation skills is a priority.
