Job Description Summary:

This position is responsible for monitoring and maintaining the daily OR schedule. This position communicates all OR schedule changes to the ASM and Clinical Managers, anesthesiologist-in-charge, and supporting departments.

Responsibilities And Duties:

30%

Monitors progress of daily surgery schedule under supervision of Clinical Nurse Mgr, ASM or Charge Nurse, utilizing multi-line phone, intercom and verbal communication; prioritizes duties in an ongoing manner to accommodate changing work demands; communicates OR schedule changes, emergencies and problems to the Nurse Manager, Associate Surgery Manager, or Charge Nurse.

30%

Communicates with other departments and individuals, including physicians, regarding needs as they affect the daily operations.

20%

Functions as a dispatcher for the timely movement of patients, equipment and supplies to and from the operating room.

10%

Receives and directs incoming communications and personnel with consideration of need for confidentiality.

5%

Formulates daily surgery schedule via computer on weekends, holidays or in the absence of the scheduling clerk.

5%

May be responsible for assisting the implementation of various emerging systems that occur within g the OR, i.e., Code E, disaster drills, etc. as directed by the Clinical Nurse Mgr. , ASM, or Charge Nurse.

Minimum Qualifications:

High School or GED (Required)

40 Hours

Familiarity with basic DOS and Windows applications. Knowledge of medical terminology. Able to communicate appropriately with many personalities in s stressful working environment. No prior Experience necessary, but preferred. This job description isn't an all-inclusive list of you the job responsibilities.

Medical Terminology and Medical background preferred

Previous Perioperative Clerk experience preferred
