  • Agile Release Train Engineer

    Ford Motor Company (Dearborn, MI)

    Apply Now

We are the movers of the world and the makers of the future. We get up every day, roll up our sleeves and build a better world -- together. At Ford, we’re all a part of something bigger than ourselves. Are you ready to change the way the world moves?

The Ford Motor Credit Company team helps put people behind the wheels of great Ford and Lincoln vehicles. By partnering with dealerships, we provide financing, personalized service and professional expertise to thousands of dealers and millions of customers in over one hundred countries around the world.

    In this position...

Ford Credit Digital Engineering is looking for a Release Train Engineer (RTE) specializing in both principle and practice, with a strong foundational understanding of frameworks (SAFe, Scrum, etc.) and methodologies within Agile program management and delivery. As the RTE, you will work to facilitate transparency across strategic initiatives, portfolio performance, and highly complex, cross-team, multi-effort programs. You will cultivate an environment of collaboration between parties in product, design, and engineering that promotes delivering high-impact and high-quality work. Your goal is to reduce the noise in the ecosystem and ensure smooth operations across dependent teams and systems.

This is a high-impact role that reports directly to the VP of Digital Engineering and will work closely with the extended leadership team. The person in this role will have the opportunity to influence the future of work at Ford Credit and effect a high degree of change across Ford Credit Digital Engineering teams. The primary customers for the role are engineering leaders, product managers, developers, and supporting teams within Ford Credit. The right candidate will understand that sustainable operational excellence is about habit-stacking and will have the proficiency to help teams and people grow through their entire agile journey (not just police a framework).

+ **Lead by example** by demonstrating our Ford OS Behaviors of Excellence, Focus, and Collaboration. The Ford Operating System (OS) provides the rigor, discipline, and clarity needed to continuously improve and stay ahead of our competition.

+ **Conduct Agile Release Train operations** by serving as the chief coordinator for one or more ARTs, orchestrating all SAFe events including PI Planning, System Demos, Inspect & Adapt workshops, and ART Syncs to ensure predictable delivery and continuous improvement.

+ **Support PI execution** by leveraging JIRA, Confluence, and other related tools, ensuring data integrity, establishing workflows that track portfolio progress, facilitating cross-team alignment, and addressing any impediments beyond a team’s control.

+ **Enable Lean Portfolio Management** by coordinating the portfolio intake and prioritization process, establishing guardrails for PI commitments, monitoring value stream health and flow metrics, and providing transparent portfolio-level reporting to stakeholders.

+ **Scale agile practices across multiple teams** by standardizing processes, facilitating cross-ART collaboration sessions, sharing best practices, and working with the Lean-Agile Center of Excellence (LACE) to drive consistency and continuous improvement across the organization.

+ **Foster a performance-oriented culture** by applying an empirical approach to relentless improvement through transparency, inspection, and adaption. This involves creating a shared vision of success, establishing standards, tracking meaningful metrics, setting improvement goals, facilitating retrospectives, and coaching teams, individual contributors, and leaders.

    You'll have...

+ 8+ years’ experience in an agile position (RTE, Scrum Master, Agile Coach), engineering delivery management, technical program management, product management, engineering or related area.

+ Experience and demonstrated understanding of multiple modern delivery practices in Agile, Lean, DevOps, Product and Portfolio Management, etc.

+ Extensive experience using, managing, and supporting teams with application lifecycle management (ALM) tools, such as Jira, Confluence, etc.

+ Strong verbal and written communications skills with the ability to influence the enterprise.

    Even better, you may have...

+ 10+ years’ experience in an agile position (RTE, Scrum Master, Agile Coach), engineering delivery management, technical program management, product management, engineering or related area.

+ Previous industry experience in software development at a Finance, FinTech, and/or Automotive company.

+ Relevant industry certifications from institutions like PMP, SAFe, Scrum.org, Scrum Alliance, ICAgile, LCM, etc.

+ A technical background with the ability to empathize with engineers and understand high-level technical challenges.

+ Experience managing complex programs with solutions relying on cloud-native technologies and service-oriented or SaaS based solutions.

You may not check every box, or your experience may look a little different from what we've outlined, but if you think you can bring value to Ford Motor Company, we encourage you to apply!

As an established global company, we offer the benefit of choice. You can choose what your Ford future will look like: will your story span the globe, or keep you close to home?
