General Description
SUNY Niagara is seeking applications for a Nursing Lab Tutor to support nursing students in developing and mastering clinical and laboratory skills required for success in the nursing program. This position works collaboratively with faculty to reinforce course objectives, provide guidance on proper technique, and ensure students gain competence and confidence in essential psychomotor skills.
Paid orientation and observation of lab content will be provided. Individuals with current tutoring and/or teaching experience are particularly encouraged to apply. Experienced nurses encouraged to apply.
Part-time; schedule varies based on lab hours and student needs. Typically Monday-Friday daytime hours (mornings/afternoons), evening hours possible.
To build and maintain an active pool of qualified candidates to meet our present and future needs for this position, SUNY Niagara will accept applications on a continuous basis. Typical Work Activities
Experienced RN/professional tutors with a strong background in Nursing will be responsible for:
+ Assisting students individually or in small groups to practice and refine nursing lab skills, following faculty instruction and program competency checklists.
+ Conveying concepts in multiple ways for a variety of learning styles.
+ Assist with and/or provide group redemonstration of psychomotor skills
+ Reinforce correct procedures for skills such as vital signs measurement, medication administration, wound care, IV insertion, patient transfers, and other fundamental nursing techniques.
+ Provide constructive feedback to help students improve accuracy, safety, and efficiency in skill performance
+ Support students in preparing for skills assessments, simulations, and clinical rotations.
+ Maintain a safe, organized, and fully stocked lab environment; ensure equipment is functional and ready for use.
+ Reinforce infection control policies, patient safety guidelines, and professional behavior standards.
+ Collaborate with nursing faculty to identify student learning needs
+ Assist with lab set-up, clean-up, and preparation for classes or skills check-offs as needed
+ Other duties as assigned

+ Ability to follow instructions from supervisor or other faculty
Required Qualifications
+ An Associate’s degree with a major in Nursing
+ Current Registered Nurse License
+ Recent (within 5 years) clincal experience
Desirable Qualifications
+ Bachelors or Master’s degree with a major in Nursing or enrolled in a MSN program.
+ Teaching experience.
+ Experience as a tutor
