Job Title: Phlebotomist II Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Phlebotomist II to join our team, working Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The primary role of a Phlebotomist II is to assist in performing various duties, troubleshoot issues, provide training, and offer workflow recommendations.

Responsibilities

+ Perform blood draws, label specimens, and centrifuge specimens.

+ Record maintenance data and decontaminate areas as needed.

+ Update and maintain patient information accurately.

+ Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.

+ Explain the venipuncture process clearly and courteously to patients.

+ Demonstrate techniques using straight and butterfly needles.

+ Comprehend and execute all physicians' orders accurately.

+ Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.

+ Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.

+ Ensure correct test requisitions or computer labels against scripts.

+ Package specimens for transport, maintaining specimen integrity.

+ Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.

+ Attend annual department training sessions.

+ Answer telephone inquiries and read laboratory results.

Essential Skills

+ Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment.

+ Minimum of 6 months' experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.

+ Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

+ High School Diploma or GED.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ 2-4 years of experience in phlebotomy or related field.

+ Skills in blood draw, venipuncture, and patient care.

+ Experience with specimen collection and butterfly needle technique.

+ Strong customer service and data entry skills.

Work Environment

The position operates in a fast-paced laboratory or hospital setting, requiring adherence to safety and compliance regulations. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, providing a structured work week.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Aurora, Colorado.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $21.00/hr.
