A Brief Overview
The Pharmacist in Charge Supports department by preparing medications for patient dispensing, maintaining appropriate records and performing assigned duties to assure adherence to safety & quality, productivity & profitability (accurate financial accountability), and regulatory compliance. The Pharmacist in Charge supports the goals, objectives, and overall functions of the department and the system to facilitate positive patient outcomes while maintaining patient confidentiality. The Pharmacist in Charge will comply with the policies, laws, regulations, and standards that govern the practice of pharmacy as well as those of the system. The Pharmacist in Charge will maintain an appropriate level of competency to perform the job duties as required by the department, the hospital and any regulatory agencies.
What you will do
+ Responsible for the operation of the outpatient pharmacy department and is accountable for improving prescription numbers, quality assurance management, pharmacy sales, profit, and image through the accurate filling of prescriptions and providing courteous and efficient service to customers and developing and protecting department assets.
+ Fills medication orders with highly efficient and dose calculations.
+ Responsible for the training, scheduling and development of department personnel.
+ Responsible for assisting the Pharmacy Manager in projects set forth by the Administration.
+ Responsible for ensuring the pharmacy department procedures and practices are following federal and state regulations and guidelines.
+ Within the guidelines of authorized hospital policies, programs, procedures, budgets, laws, and good business ethics, directs, and controls the activities, plans, and programs of the immediate staff.
+ Assures ethics compliance through equity, consistency, and fairness, prevents workplace harassment, upholds federal, state, and local labor and employment laws; upholds the Open-door policy, assuring no retaliation; always communicates openly and honestly to employees.
+ Supervises pharmacy department employees to assure performance of required functions and adherence to hospital policies and procedures.
+ Monitors proper licensure of all pharmacy department personnel.
+ Maintains knowledge of MTM services.
Education Qualifications
+ Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college of Pharmacy Required
+ Doctoral Degree Preferred
Experience Qualifications
+ Pharmacist leadership experience Required
+ Two years’ experience as Pharmacist in charge or similar leadership position at a retail pharmacy or discharge pharmacy Preferred
Skills and Abilities
+ Ability to work cooperatively with health-system and pharmacy staff required.
+ Ability to handle frequent interruptions and adapt to changes in workload and work schedule required.
+ Ability to set priorities, make decisions, and respond quickly to emergency requests required.
+ Ability to assist the pharmacist in meeting the pharmaceutical needs of neonatal, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients required.
+ Attention to detail with high-speed efficiency and accuracy required.
Licenses and Certifications
+ Registered Pharmacist - South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation Pharmacy License in good standing by the State of South Carolina Board of Pharmacy Required
