We are seeking a technically proficient and leadership-oriented Senior Cloud Engineer to serve as Manager IT for our Intelligent Document Processing (IDP) platform. This role combines hands-on engineering with team leadership and strategic oversight. You will be responsible for guiding the technical direction of our IDP initiatives, mentoring engineers, and ensuring delivery of scalable, production-grade solutions that support automated document workflows and advanced data extraction.

This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, agile environment and is ready to take ownership of complex systems, team development, and contribute to strategic platform evolution.

This role will have a Hybrid work schedule, with the expectation of working in an office (Columbus, OH, Chicago, IL, Hartford, CT or Charlotte, NC) 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).

    Key Responsibilities:

+ Lead the engineering and delivery of cloud-native IDP solutions using AWS and third-party platforms.

+ Manage a team of engineers and collaborate with data scientists, architects, and business stakeholders to align IDP capabilities with enterprise goals.

+ Oversee the development and optimization of automated workflows for document ingestion, classification, extraction, and validation.

+ Drive performance tuning, cost optimization, and infrastructure resilience across the IDP platform.

+ Implement monitoring, alerting, and fault-tolerant mechanisms to ensure platform reliability.

+ Own technical documentation, including architecture diagrams, deployment guides, and operational runbooks.

+ Evaluate emerging technologies and contribute to platform roadmap and strategic planning.

+ Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and accountability within the team.

    Required Qualifications:

+ Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

+ 10+ years of experience in cloud engineering, with at least 2 years in a technical leadership or management role.

+ Experience with AWS services experience (e.g., Lambda, S3, Step Functions, ECS, IAM).

+ Experience with .NET and Python, with experience building scalable backend services.

+ Experience with Intelligent Document Processing ( IDP), OCR, NLP, and machine learning technologies in production environments.

+ Experience with GenAI-powered Intelligent Document Processing (IDP) platforms (e.g., MEA).

+ Experience in the insurance sector, with a history of implementing process automation and augmentation through GenAI technologies.

    Preferred Qualifications:

+ Proficiency with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes).

+ Proven ability to lead teams, troubleshoot complex systems, and implement resilient cloud architectures.

+ Excellent communication, mentoring, and stakeholder management skills.

+ AWS certifications (e.g., Solutions Architect, Developer, SysOps).

+ Familiarity with insurance-specific document formats (e.g., SOVs, financial statements).

+ Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation).

    + Experience with .NET 8

+ Familiarity with Power Automate, Tableau, SQL Server, and PostgreSQL

Every day, a day to do right.

Showing up for people isn’t just what we do. It’s who we are – and have been for more than 200 years. We’re devoted to finding innovative ways to serve our customers, communities and employees—continually asking ourselves what more we can do.

Is our policy language as simple and inclusive as it can be? Can we better help businesses navigate our ever-changing world? What else can we do to destigmatize mental health in the workplace? Can we make our communities more equitable?

That we can rise to the challenge of these questions is due in no small part to our company values that our employees have shaped and defined.

And while how we contribute looks different for each of us, it’s these values that drive all of us to do more and to do better every day.
