    Job Description

    The Access Consultant provides or arranges for reasonable accommodations for students with disabilities or medical conditions to ensure access to courses, programs, facilities, services, and activities on campus. The Access Consultant also works in collaboration with persons with disabilities and campus partners to improve the understanding and support of the University community. This position serves all students and their instructors and programs on the Metro State University campuses.

    Minimum Qualifications

    The following qualifications are required of all applicants seeking consideration for this position. Only applicants whose application materials clearly demonstrate fulfillment of each of these minimum qualifications will be considered for the position:

     

    + Two years of professional experience.

    + Knowledge of federal and state laws regarding access for people with disabilities.

    + Experience in providing consultation on disability issues.

    + Communication sufficient to prepare messages and materials for diverse audiences and clearly explain, discuss, and present complex ideas, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.

    Preferred Qualifications

    + BA/BS in Rehabilitation Counseling, Social Work, Counseling Psychology, or related field.

    + Knowledge and understanding of trends and issues in disability access in a college setting.

    + Project planning, development, and social media management skills.

    + Certification in American Sign Language.

    8:00 AM - 4:30 PM

    Metro State University, Minnesota’s public, urban university, and four-time recipient of the Insight into Diversity Higher Education Excellence in Diversity (HEED) Award is seeking to hire an Access Consultant. This is a full-time/probationary position within the Center for Accessibility Resources (CAR).

    Qualified applicants are required to attach the following documents to their online application:
