As a Nuclear Medicine Technologist, you will perform a wide range of nuclear medicine examinations and work closely with Radiologists, PET, Cardiologists and Interventionalists. You will also collaborate with department staff and medical providers to optimize patient care and departmental workflow by providing support, education and assistance. This role is integral to the Imaging Department, enabling the team to deliver essential treatments and services effectively.

A caregiver in this role works day/evening/night/weekend shifts from 7:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. or 6:00 a.m. - 6:30 p.m. with on-call requirements.

_On occasion, Technologists will provide coverage at West Palm and at the upcoming expansion of the PET/CT service line in Coral Springs._

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

+ Perform nuclear medicine procedures according to the manual and written order.

+ Utilize equipment safely and according to manufacturer's recommendation.

+ Perform quality control on the gamma camera and other equipment as required.

+ Ensure that all equipment is appropriately maintained, calibrated, and working properly. You should report equipment problems to supervisor or service personnel as required and discontinue use of equipment until repairs have been completed when the equipment problem causes image quality degradation or safety issues.

+ Order the necessary isotope from the pharmacy; always reviews the physician's orders to determine the proper isotope required for each type of test ordered.

+ Obtain written consent for all invasive procedures from the patient, parent, or legal guardian prior to the exam.

+ Complete site identification procedure prior to the start of invasive procedure.

+ Utilize appropriate skills in accurately and descriptively documenting patient's pertinent clinical information, medical history, allergies, and other pertinent information.

+ Consult with radiologist or referring physician regarding contraindications to ordered exam.

+ Respond to emergency situations, i.e., contrast reactions and medical emergencies according to departmental, clinic, and hospital policy.

+ Advise the nurse in charge of the patient of any unusual occurrence which happened to the patient while in the Imaging Department.

+ Provides backup assistance to other associates in the department upon completion of duties or as assigned by supervisor.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

+ Bachelor's Degree in Nuclear Medicine OR graduate of a two-year accredited school in an Allied Health Program OR certification from a CAHEA approved Nuclear Medicine Technologist Training Program

+ Registered Technologist credentialed by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists [R.T(N) (ARRT)] in good standing OR Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) through the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB)

+ Current Florida License as a General Radiographer (RAD)

+ Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

+ Two years of experience as an Imaging Technologist in an acute care imaging setting

+ Currently a New Grad

+ Special Demands: Needs minimal sustained direction in assessing needs, carrying out departmental and professional responsibilities; self-starting and self-motivating; working hours may exceed eight (8) hours per day and is based on what is needed to accomplish work at hand.
