Job Title: Project Manager Job Description
The Project Manager will lead the successful execution of customer projects from award through final acceptance, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This role is central to aligning customer expectations, internal teams (Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Finance, Field Service), and global partners. The Project Manager will serve as the primary customer contact, drive project planning and reporting, and foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. Projects will be managed in accordance with PMI project management methodologies. In addition, the Project Manager will coordinate with a Project & Letter Administration role to streamline documentation, communication, and reporting workflows.
Responsibilities
+ Own project delivery from contract award to closure, ensuring adherence to scope, schedule, cost, and quality requirements.
+ Define project deliverables and milestones in alignment with customer contracts and internal capabilities.
+ Lead regular internal and external project review meetings, ensuring transparency of status, risks, and mitigation plans.
+ Apply PMI project management methodologies to structure project execution, risk management, and stakeholder engagement.
+ Serve as the single point of contact for customers and consultants.
+ Build trust through proactive communication, responsiveness, and problem-solving.
+ Manage change orders, scope adjustments, and customer escalations.
+ Develop and maintain project schedules using structured planning methods.
+ Track progress against KPIs (on-time delivery, budget adherence, quality metrics).
+ Provide timely reports to leadership, including lessons learned and forward-looking risk assessments.
Essential Skills
+ 4+ years of project management experience in rail & transit.
+ Strong knowledge of PMI project management methodologies.
+ Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
+ Excellent communication and leadership skills, with experience in customer-facing roles.
+ Experience implementing or standardizing project management tools.
+ Proficiency with ERP systems (SAP and Sage) and MS Office Suite.
+ Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional project teams and manage projects in a global context.
+ PMP or equivalent certification.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience in project management, engineering, project control, change order management, customer service, and project coordination.
+ Skills in SAP ERP, scheduling coordination, project planning, project engineering, Microsoft Office Suite.
+ Customer liaison, forecasting, schedule planning, cost analysis, customer support, and customer relationship management.
Work Environment
The position is located near Ballston Spa, NY, within a manufacturing setting. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, either from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm or from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm. The company manufactures power supplies, converters, and passenger information and onboard systems for rail vehicles and is a benchmark in the industry with a global presence. This is a Permanent position based out of Ballston Spa, New York.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $115000.00/yr.
