    Job Description

    Please note this position is posted in a range from Meter Electrician C-A

    **The selected candidate will need to reside within 45 mins of the Teays Valley Service Center (2935 State Route 34, Winfield, WV 25213)

    Meter Electrician C:

    Read meters as required for field order and on schedule for cycle billingInstall, remove, change disconnect, and reconnect meters.

     

    Test singlephase, network, and polyphase self-contained meter for proper operation and accuracyProgram meters

     

    Perform Credit and Collections related order including disconnect and reconnect for non-payment

     

    Investigate irregular usageInvestigate energy diversion

     

    Repair meters, meter sockets, and meter enclosures

     

    Order, receive, ship, store, and inventory meter and associated equipment

     

    Investigate self-contained service power quality problems, install event recorders, neutral testers, and produce reports

     

    Perform work from ladders and elevated platforms

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    Education requirements are listed below:Associates Degree in electrical/electronic technology. Equivalent education and experience is limited to military training and work experience of technical/technician nature (such as aviation and nuclear instrumentation technician).

     

    Required License(s)/Certification(s) are listed below:State Driver's License

    OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

    Within 24 months of employment, successfully complete the Company's training and qualification program for this position including: classroom instruction; written examination; job mentoring; and job performance demonstrations. Work overtime as needed including extended daily shifts and weekends. Work late shifts as needed. Work independently under semi-direct supervision in a safe-efficient, and productive manner Proficiently use computers and applications related to this position. Effectively communicate with other employees, customer, and the general public in a courteous and appropriate manner.

     

    Promote a positive image of the Company to customer and the general public. Comply with all aspects of the AEP Corporate Code of Conduct. Report hazards and abnormal conditions.Attend and participate in training as assigned and assist in the training of other employees.There are additional expectations for the job and could include specific work experience, license / certifications, preemployment testing, expectations about travel, shift work, etc.

     

    Principal Line of Progression: From: Direct employment To: Meter Electrician B

    Meter Electrician B:

    1.) Perform all duties of lower classifications as required

    2.) Install and maintain transformer rated meters and instrument transformers

    3.) Install and maintain external data recorders and associated equipment

    4.) Install and maintain pulse meters, isolation relays, and associated equipment

    5.) Test self-contained and transformer rated meters for proper operation and accuracy

    6.) Test instrument transformers for proper operation and accuracy

    7.) Investigate transformer rated service power quality problems, install event recorders and produce reports

    8.) Visually inspect distribution system capacitors, regulators, reclosers, Alternate Feed Switches, and Line Voltage Monitors

    9.) Disconnect and reconnect secondary services at the point of attachment

    10.) Replace meter sockets and enclosures

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    Prior to promotion to this classification, successfully complete 24 months in the Meter Electrician C classificationWithin 24 months of promotion to this classification, successfully complete the Company training and qualification program for this classification including: classroom instruction; written examination; job mentoring; and job performance demonstrations

     

    Work overtime as needed including extended daily shifts and weekends. Work late shifts as needed Work independently under general supervision in a safe, efficient, and productive manner. Proficiently use computers and applications related to this classification. Effectively communicate with other employees, customers, and the general public in a courteous and appropriate manner.     Principal Line of Progression: From: Meter Electrician B To: Meter Electrician A

    **Meter Electrician A** :

    1.) Perform all duties of lower classifications as required

    2.) Install, maintain, and test intra-change, inter-change, and generating plant meters, instrument transformers, and associated equipment

    3.) Install, maintain, and test satellite, land line, ethernet, and other remote metering and associated equipment

    4.) Install, maintain and test loss compensated metering and associated equipment

    5.) Install, maintain, test, and operate distribution system capacitors, regulators, reclosers, Alternate Feed Switches, and Line Voltage Monitors

    6.) Install and maintain distribution grid control devices and automated metering and distribution grid network infrastructure

    7.) Disconnect and reconnect secondary and primary services at the pole or transformer and replace primary fuses where applicable

    8.) Perform a variety of special tests and inspections related to customer bill complaints, inquiries, and energy diversion investigations. Prepare related reports

    9.) Assist with and perform distribution studies including inspection of distribution equipment, circuits, analysis, and preparing reports.

    10.) Operate and perform work from aerial lift devices.

    11.) Develop and provide employee training.

    2) To promote to this classification, individuals must successfully complete the Company training and qualification program for this classification including classroom instruction; written examination; job mentoring; and job performance demonstrations. This training and testing will occur during the minimum 24-month period that an employee will spend in the Meter Electrician B classification.

     

    3) Work overtime as needed including extended daily shifts and weekends

     

    4) Work late shifts as needed

     

    5) Work independently under general supervision in a safe, efficient, and productive manner

     

    6) Proficiently use computers and applications related to this classification

     

    7) Effectively communicate with other employees, customers, and the general public in a courteous and appropriate manner

    Compensation Range:

    $30.12-31.81 USD

     

    The Physical Demand Level for this job is: M – Medium Work: Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
