Engineer, Design Sr. - Aircraft

Essential Responsibilities:
+ Independently design and develop prototype models and methods to validate design concepts, receiving feedback when requested
+ Validate designs and make recommended changes
+ Report progress and any issues encountered to the Engineering Manager or Project Engineer, and provide and drive solutions
+ Work closely with manufacturing, quality assurance, production, vendors, and contractors to support product design projects
+ Act as a primary decision maker within an engineering support group to review final designs and implement modifications as necessary.
+ Support efforts to resolve manufacturing problems and improve product quality
+ Stay updated on relevant technological developments and assist in incorporating design improvements.
+ Lead visits to customer sites to validate product design specifications and address minor product issues.
+ Prepare time reports for projects assigned.
+ Perform other related duties as required.
+ Attend customer calls as a primary contributor, providing feedback and addressing actions/concerns
+ Experience having gone through all aspects of the design process multiple times from kick-off to qualification and production for a product line
+ Provide guidance and support to less experienced engineers as needed. Provide peer reviews to engineering analysis and documentation.
+ Review designs for accuracy, functionality, and manufacturability
+ Provide technical solutions for a wide range of fluid control components
+ Create test plans, procedures, and test reports as part of the component development process
Basic Qualifications:
+ Bachelor’s Degree – Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering required
+ 15+ years of relevant experience
+ Experience reviewing and approving drawings, specifications, and work instructions
+ Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
+ Effective communication skills - verbal and written
+ Creative thinker with a willingness to learn and contribute ideas.
+ Organized, able to manage tasks and meet deadlines.
+ Comfortable working independently to drive program success and completion
+ Mastery of geometric tolerance techniques and drafting to ensure proper alignment and stackups (ANSI Y14.5M-2009 is a plus)
+ Experience with SolidWorks is a plus
+ Experience designing complex aerospace components and assemblies (actuators, valves, pumps)
