Job Summary and Qualifications

The Staff Assistant staffs the front desk of the department and sets the tone for the patient’s visit. It is vital that they portray the I CARE values in every interaction with patients, physicians, and referring offices. The Staff Assistant performs various clerical and administrative duties, including greeting patients, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance, managing medical records, and coordinating physician schedules.

What you will do in this role:

+ Greet patients and visitors in waiting areas, direct them to appropriate departments, and keep them informed of wait times.

+ Promote a positive, customer-oriented demeanor.

+ Perform patient-centered secretarial tasks such as scheduling, insurance verification, and medical records management.

+ Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.

+ Receive and direct incoming calls, relay messages, and assist with physician schedule coordination.

What qualifications you will need:

+ 1 year hospital experience preferred

+ Good communication skills

+ Strong customer service skills with an emphasis on customer service initiatives

+ Organizational and multi-tasking skills

+ Good computer skills and accurate typing ability

+ Heartsaver CPR within 90 days of hire date
