    Job Title: Safety Specialist

    Job Description

    The Safety Specialist is responsible for educating field personnel on safety procedures and ensuring compliance with safety policies. This role involves conducting site safety audits, developing corrective actions, investigating incidents, and leading safety training sessions.

    Responsibilities

    + Educate field personnel on correct safety procedures and ensure compliance with safety policies.

    + Conduct site safety audits to recognize and correct unsafe conditions and behaviors.

    + Develop and conduct training sessions for recurring audit items.

    + Investigate all incidents and generate detailed reports.

    + Create, conduct, and document Tool Box Talks.

    + Ensure required safety signage is properly posted and maintained.

    + Stop work to address serious safety deficiencies and document disciplinary actions.

    + Provide leadership focused on safe work practices and pre-task planning.

    + Assist in planning and implementing project safety needs.

    + Actively participate in operational planning to eliminate hazards.

    + Monitor compliance with safety portions of OPS Plans and collaborate with foremen to address issues.

    + Investigate new safety systems/equipment and educate crews accordingly.

    + Conduct on-site inspections and control hazardous conditions through teaching and coaching.

    + Recognize field personnel for outstanding safety initiatives.

    + Participate in daily morning huddles and end-of-shift meetings.

    + Educate foremen on proper daily work plans/JHA procedures.

    + Assist with and lead weekly safety meetings.

    + Continue education in safety through seminars and meetings.

    + Remain current in safety topics and issues relevant to the construction industry.

    + Perform additional duties as directed by supervisors.

    Essential Skills

    + Bachelor's degree in Safety or equivalent experience.

    + Possession of a BCSP board of safety certification such as GSP, ASP, or CHSP.

     

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

     

    + Willingness to work 50 hours a week with potential weekend work.

    + Open to relocation and local to Wisconsin or Northern Illinois.

    + Experience in industrial, data center, solar, and commercial projects is preferred.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $33.00 - $38.00/hr.
