    Purpose:

    The US Value Delivery Affiliate Portfolio and Medical Affairs Finance Lead provides oversees US Affiliate Portfolio and Medical Affairs financial leadership and decision support to key stakeholders and senior leaders, managing with enterprise perspective across the Astellas US Affiliate Business – which includes Commercial & Medical Affairs currently. S/he maintains direct leadership over (1) US Value Delivery Revenue (GTN) and Enabling Functions Lead and (2) US Value Delivery Affiliate FP&A & Systems Support, based in the Mexico Global Capabilities Centre (GCC). (3) Medical Affairs business partnering and financial governance as the SME for US Affiliate. In parallel, s/he directs, leads, and co-ordinates all finance processes, operations, and FP&A planning and reporting cycles (FC2, FC3, FC4 etc.), maintaining a dotted line reporting relationship with (three) US Value Delivery Finance Business Partners to ensure comprehensive consolidation of Commercial and Medical Affairs financials.

     

    The US Value Delivery Affiliate Portfolio and Medical Affairs Finance Lead is expected to influence assigned business partners’ choices and priorities, establishing a climate of financial stewardship and championing value creation by proactively providing actionable insights, financial analytics, financial and management reporting that guides and informs to help shape business initiatives, strategy, and operational excellence. S/he will effectively coordinate and collaborate with cross-functional partners in Global Value Delivery Finance, Enterprise Finance, GBS, and the COE to ensure controls and compliance with IFRS and J-SOX. S/he plays an important role in executing Global Value Delivery Finance Strategies, and other corporate (US/Global) transformative changes, leading with courage and innovation to drive continuous process improvements to support the evolution of business requirements, structure, and sustainability of operations and alignment with enterprise strategy.

     

    Member of the US Value Delivery Finance Leadership Team, reporting directly to the Head, US Value Delivery Finance and serves US Value Delivery Finance Lead and liaison to the US Medical Affairs Leadership Team working in a matrix way, understanding and influencing the US Affiliate enterprise priorities to achieve business objectives.

    Essential Job Responsibilities:

    Core Tasks / Responsibilities:

    + Holds core responsibilities for partnering with the Head, US Value Delivery Finance and Local Brand Teams (LBTs) to consolidate portfolio strategy, financials, and enterprise business decisions and value creation.

    + Maintains a Brands@Centre mindset and performance culture view in driving optimal outcomes for revenue and profit growth, while effectively leading with fiscal disciple by managing costs by identifying opportunities for expense efficiency, synergies, procurement value, and other sustainable margin transformation.

    + Proactively participates in business reviews to understand brand priorities to track, monitor, guide and inform as a Financial Business Partner to key stakeholders in ensuring improvement in business performance, sustainability of operations and alignment with enterprise strategy.

    + Maintains direct leadership over (1) US Value Delivery Revenue (GTN) and Enabling Functions Lead and (2) US Value Delivery Affiliate FP&A & Systems Support, based in the Mexico Global Capabilities Centre (GCC). (3) Medical Affairs bus. partnering and financial governance as the SME for US Affiliate.

    + Oversees US Commercial Revenue Planning and Reporting, effectively challenging and shaping Gross-to-Net (GTN) revenue to ensure alignment between Commercial Finance and Contracts & Pricing.

    + Strategic advisor to the Head of Medical Affairs and their leadership team and SME for Medical Affairs finance within the US Affiliate, bringing in relevant governance and integrity of medical affairs activities, and supporting the (three) US Value delivery finance business partners around MA activities as needed.

    + Directs, leads, and co-ordinates all finance processes, operations, and FP&A planning and reporting cycles (FC2, FC3, FC4 etc.), maintaining a dotted line reporting relationship with (three) US Value Delivery Finance Business Partners to ensure comprehensive consolidation of Commercial and Medical Affairs financials.

    + Provides financial leadership and decision support to the senior leaders and teams responsible for Astellas US Affiliate business. Expected to influence its business partners’ choices and priorities, establishing a climate of financial stewardship and championing value creation.

    + Coordinates and collaborates with the FP&A Centre of Excellence to ensure data integrity of financial reporting and leverage COE planning and reporting for Organization (FTE/Payroll).

    + Collaborates and supports GBS team and expert finance teams (Tax, Treasury, External reporting, etc…) with relevant knowledge and insight APUS Managerial Financials as needed for statutory reporting, budgeting, tax compliance, and external audit.

    + Partners with the Head, US Value Delivery Finance in orchestrating and executing US input to Global Finance strategies, providing actionable insights, financial analytics, financial and management reporting that guides and informs to help shape business initiatives, strategy, and operational excellence.

    + Coordinates and collaborates with cross-functional partners in COE, GBS, and Global Finance to ensure controls and compliance with GAAP, IFRS< and JSOX, and related audits.

    Compliance:

    + Embed Compliance Culture, ensuring Integrity in Action is actively applied in all initiatives, and proactively address non-compliance.

    + Ensure a culture of Ethics and Compliance; lead by example and incorporate cross-cultural perspectives when addressing challenging situations.

    + The group operates as an integrated model across Commercial (Sales/Marketing), Market Access, Customer Engagement Excellence and Medical Affairs providing Financial management leadership to those units to maximise brand performance, whilst prioritizing ethical decision making. During all finance related activities (budgeting, planning, reporting, etc) there is a need to ensure that the integrity and independence of Medical Affairs is not compromised. You are expected to proactively communicate and consult with Head US VALUE delivery finance, Global Medical Affairs Finance SME and Head US Medical Affairs as necessary to ensure that such the integrity and independence of Medical Affairs is always maintained.

    **Financial** :

    + US Affiliate Approx Portfolio size: Revenue $6B, Core Expense $1B, Operating Profit $3B.

    + Gross-to Net ($12B Gross Sales, $6B Net Sales); $1B GTN Balance Sheet Responsibility

    Qualifications Required:

    Minimum Qualification

     

    + Bachelor’ Degree required in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.

    + English professional level in speaking and writing.

    Minimum Experience

    + 15+ years employment experience, in finance functions including accounting, costing and/or FP&A.

    + Strong FP&A skills, with good technical financial background (i.e. accounting, internal control, compliance)

    + Solid experience in business partnering and influencing senior stakeholders.

    + Solid experience with ERP (SAP) and Planning systems (BPC preferred).

    + Profound experience with Excel and PowerPoint.

    + Experience in process improvement and project management is preferred.

    + Experience in Pharma industry is preferred.

    + Experience in Public Accounting is preferred.

    **Salary Range:** $170,450 -$243,000 (NOTE: Final salary could be more or less, based on experience)
