Engineering Workshop Supervisor

Under the direction of the Manager Engineering Center, supervises, prioritizes, plans and schedules the day to day activities of highly-skilled industrial trade employees. Activities will include Machining, Fabrication and Pipe Fitting functions.
+ Provide leadership and supervision to Engineering Workshop to include setting priorities of daily activities and administering company policies. Provide coaching, mentoring and training required to develop skilled team members. Must be committed to staff development through the technical skill-level progression program.
+ By using an advanced knowledge of Oracle and the engineering work flow process, proactively utilize available tools and performance metrics to analyze department workload to determine most appropriate staffing levels and work schedules. Forecasts future Engineering Workshop workload and coordinates with crew leaders to ensure manpower is effectively allocated. Additionally, monitors labor utilization variances to ensure maximum productivity. Responsible for overseeing the work schedules and assignments for the groups. Re-establishes daily priorities, as required, for completion of work assignments in adherence to schedules, quality standards, and operating budgets.
+ Supervises assigned employees to achieve department performance goals. Utilizes established company employee relations policies and procedures. Refers exceptions to manager as required.
+ In coordination with the Engineering Workshop Crew Leaders, estimates, requisitions and ensures delivery of materials or spare parts to the customer. Also, monitors and determines appropriate inventory levels of raw materials and parts in the workshop.
+ Reviews incoming scope of work, priority, estimated man-hours and required completion dates. Assigns work orders to Engineering Workshop Crew Leaders and/or outside vendors for completion. In conjunction with the Crew Leaders, ensures availability of materials and creation of parts kits required for work execution. Coordinates with Crew Leaders and/or various company customers to confirm necessary access and availability so work can be performed. Communicates fully with the customer to apprise them of work status and schedules. Refers any priority conflicts or schedule delays to department manager for further resolution.
+ Be the frontrunner in the groups continuous improvement efforts. Work independently to develop innovative solutions to enhance productivity, customer service, and cost effectiveness. Proactively seek feedback from various sources on the quality of completed work to drive further improvements.
