    About this Position:

    The primary function of this position is to serve as electrician specialist responsible for the maintenance and repair of the electrical system on the district’s movable bridges and DOTD owned buildings and facilities. This position is located in Unit 970 and reports directly to the Highway Foreman 2. The incumbent is required to have specialized knowledge of the use of plan reading, proper traffic control, electrical safety, moveable bridges, and the National Electrical Codes and Regulations. The incumbent is required to have a cell phone and will be on call 24 hours a day and must perform his duties in all types of weather.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Job Duties and Other Information

    Job Duties:

    + Assists in performing technical and highly skilled electrical maintenance on moveable and stationary bridges that may include but not limited to maintenance and repair of bridge hydraulic systems such as generators, transfer switches, pumps, cylinders, hoses, filters, control valves, grid couplings, locks, wedges and barriers, single phase (120/240v) and three phase (277/480v) systems utility plant electrical systems (13,500v), electronically operated bridge systems and marine electrical systems in accordance with the National Electrical Code.

    + Assist in performing electrical maintenance and lighting on all DOTD buildings, rest areas, and district projects that may include but not limited to lighting, restrooms, sewage plants, water wells, blowers, motors, compressors, and control equipment. Assigns and inspects work done by Electrician Specialists, inspects and reports work done by contractors to ensure that all work meets NEC standards and is completed in accordance with specifications in a timely manner.

    + The incumbent will participate in appropriate DOTD structured training programs and attend all continuing education classes and conferences deemed necessary to facilitate the performance of required tasks. The incumbent must be self- motivated and able to perform duties many times with or without direct supervision and be knowledgeable enough to interpret unforeseen conditions as they may arise. This position is a safety sensitive position that requires random drug screens, the incumbent is required to obtain a class B CDL driver’s license.

    Appointment Type: This position may be filled as a Probationary Appointment requiring 12-24 months on probation.

    Compensation: Electrician Specialist - Hourly Rate $21.05 / $1,684.00 Biweekly
