    The primary responsibility of the Technical Development Specialist is to deliver entry level Commercial Service Technicians at the completion of their time in the apprenticeship program. The TDS will also assist the service management team with development of existing Commercial Service Technicians (HVAC, Plumbing and Electrical) by managing the Off-Season Training Program and other ongoing training and development programs.

    What you will do:

    + Develop, schedule and coordinate supplemental training to help accelerate learning and fill in knowledge gaps

    + Set-up, coordinate and perform on-the-job-training and practical’s

    + Assist service and projects management in the development, coordination and delivery of the Training program and other ongoing or one time training programs

    + Create and maintain a log of lessons learned and quality control issues for educational purposes

    + Collaborate with other TDS’s across ColonialWebb to coordinate best practices and shared training resources

    + Support the functions and activities of the Hampton Roads Apprentice program:

    + Monitor grades and education progress for apprentices

    + Support the enrollment of apprentices in their respective Related Technical Instruction (RTI) programs

    + Coordinate tracking of on-the-job-training and practical’s; keep supervisors and managers updated with progress and gaps

    + Support managers and supervisors with apprentice conversations relating to attendance, grades, performance etc.

    + Serve as primary representative for the company in the ABC-Virginia Apprentice Council

    What we are looking for:

    + Possess Master Level experience in at least one or more trades: HVAC, refrigeration, electrical or plumbing

    + An associate degree, equivalent from two-year college or technical school with a certificate in the specific trade working, or possess completion certificate from a sponsored apprenticeship program, or 10-years of direct industry experience, preferred.

    + Possess knowledge of current Building Codes, ASHRAE standards and OSHA safety regulations

    + Exhibit client management skills; manage customer relationships, perceptions and expectations

    + Ability to budget and control expenses of training and development activities

    + Demonstrate technological proficiency to include Microsoft Office products

    + Ability to coordinate and perform multiple activities in a timely manner (i.e., work assignments, training, development, customer relations, and coordination with other managers)

    + Possess EPA approved Section 608 Technician Certification
