Job Summary
Evaluate and treat Pediatric and Adult Inpatients in the Mott Children's Hospital. Provide patient treatment and education. Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as the ability to work collaboratively with a team.

Responsibilities*
+ Completes evaluations of assigned patients and interprets evaluation results in accordance with the established standards of care and practice.
+ Develops focused individually designed treatment plans based on the patient's functional goals and appropriate established standards of care and practice.
+ Utilizes independent clinical decision making to progress patients and modifies treatment depending on the patient's need and medical and medical/psychological status.
+ Completes all documentation of patient care services per department standards.
+ Assist in developing and conducting research and study projects related to patient treatment.
+ Instructs patients and families in home treatment programs.
+ Assist in the establishment or modification of unit rules and procedures.
+ Assist in the education, supervision and motivation of students and assistants.
+ May assist in the preparation of assigned sections of the annual unit budget.
+ Process patient care orders using the electronic ordering system may be required in certain areas.
Required Qualifications*
+ If licensed before 1/1/2007: Bachelor's degree in occupational therapy.
+ If licensed on or after 1/1/2007: Master's or Doctorate degree in Occupational Therapy.
+ Satisfactory completion of an internship program.
+ Current Michigan License and NBCOT membership.
+ This classification requires Primary Source Verification.
New graduates will be considered.
Desired Qualifications*
+ Minimum of three months of clinical experience in pediatric occupational therapy in the last 3 years (may be internship experience)
+ Prefer at least 2 years of clinical experience in pediatric occupational therapy.
+ Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.
+ Excellent communication and documentation skills.
+ Acute care experience is strongly preferred.
+ Experience with medically complex pediatric populations, including post-surgical, neurological, and cardiopulmonary conditions.

Union Affiliation
This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the United Michigan Medicine Allied Professionals (UMMAP), which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours, and other terms and conditions of employment.
Background Screening
Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act.
