Responsibilities*
+ The Audiologist will perform, interpret, and report audiologic and electrophysiologic assessments of patients as a member of the Pediatric Otolaryngology and Audiology team. This position will provide staffing for sound booth at Brighton Center for Specialty Care. Patient population will primarily be pediatric with a smaller number of adult patients.
+ Provides direct patient care for patients with suspected or known hearing loss, as well as pediatric patients who are at risk for developing late onset hearing loss. The position includes hearing technology evaluations, fittings, and follow-up. Experience in bone conduction device and cochlear implant technology is desirable. There is the potential for participation in educational audiology or electrophysiology testing in the operating room.
+ Audiology visits include:
+ Comprehensive audiologic assessment of adult and pediatric patients
+ Conventional hearing aid and bone-conduction hearing device evaluation (e.g. BAHA, Ponto), fitting, verification, and follow-up as needed
+ The position may also include some functional oversight of technical staff. Instructional opportunities involving otolaryngology residents, fellows, audiology graduate students, and medical students may be available.
+ Community outreach activity is encouraged.
Required Qualifications*
+ If licensed prior to 2007: Master's degree in Audiology.
+ If licensed on or after 2007: Doctorate in Audiology (AuD).
+ Current licensure as an Audiologist from the state of Michigan.
+ This classification requires Primary Source Verification.
Desired Qualifications*
+ Ideal candidates for this position will have 3-5 years of experience working with a diverse pediatric population providing behavioral assessments of hearing in children as well as hearing technology evaluation, treatment and fitting to include hearing aids, bone conduction devices and cochlear implants.
+ Experience maintaining electronic medical records along with organizational skills to manage a busy clinic schedule helpful.
+ Candidates for this position will demonstrate a well-developed set of interpersonal skills, a desire to work collaboratively, and a willingness to invest time, energy, and enthusiasm in developing self/others to help improve performance and gain knowledge in new areas.
+ Physical ability to maneuver and transport wheeled equipment is necessary. Additionally, candidates should be capable of proactively identifying new ideas/opportunities from multiple sources or methods to improve processes beyond conventional approaches.
