What You’ll Do
As a Surgical Technologist at Baystate Health, you will be an essential member of the operating room team, working under the direction of the RN Clinical Operations Coordinator, Unit Manager, and Service Leads.
Key Responsibilities Include:
+ Maintaining the integrity of the sterile field and ensuring adherence to aseptic technique
+ Preparing instruments, equipment, and supplies for surgical procedures
+ Anticipating the needs of the surgeon and responding effectively in real time
+ Monitoring patient condition and procedure flow to support safety and efficiency
+ Collaborating with a multidisciplinary care team to ensure high-quality outcomes
Career Ladder & Qualifications

Surgical Technologist I
+ Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program or equivalent training
+ AST Certification*
+ Current BLS (American Heart Association)
Surgical Technologist II
+ Meets Tech I qualifications
+ Minimum 2 years of experience (or 1 year at Baystate)
Surgical Technologist III
+ Meets Tech I qualifications
+ Minimum 4 years of experience (including 1 year at Baystate)
*Certification required for those without prior surgical experience before July 1, 2013
