    Responsibilities

    The Associate Vice President (AVP) of Middle Revenue Cycle provides strategic and operational leadership for all functions within the middle revenue cycle, including health information management (HIM), coding, charge capture, and revenue integrity. This leader ensures that documentation, coding, and charge processes are accurate, compliant, and optimized to support appropriate reimbursement, quality outcomes, and regulatory standards.

     

    + Provide leadership and oversight for middle revenue cycle operations, including HIM, coding, charge capture, and revenue integrity.

    + Develop and execute strategies to improve coding accuracy, charge integrity, and compliance in alignment with organizational goals.

    + Partner with clinical, operational, and finance leaders to ensure accurate documentation and data integrity that support case mix, quality, and reimbursement.

    + Oversee performance metrics, dashboards, and reporting to track departmental outcomes, ensuring accountability and continuous improvement.

    + Lead efforts to optimize technology solutions, workflows, and automation within middle revenue cycle functions.

    + Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and payer regulations related to coding, documentation, and revenue integrity.

    + Manage departmental budgets, staffing models, and resource allocation to support efficiency and effectiveness.

    + Foster a culture of collaboration, transparency, and professional development across the middle revenue cycle teams.

    + Serve as a subject matter expert and advisor to executive leadership on middle revenue cycle strategy, performance, and emerging trends.

    Requirements

    Licensure / Certification / Registration:

    + Finance Professional specializing in Revenue Cycle preferred.

    + Licensed Reimbursement Spclst credentialed from the Healthcare Financial Management Association preferred.

    Education:

    + Associate's degree/Bachelor's degree with 7 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required, with 4 of those years being in leadership/management.

    Additional Preferences

    + Master’s degree in Health Administration, Business, or related field preferred; Bachelor’s degree required.

    + RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CHRI, or related credential strongly preferred.

    + Minimum 8–10 years of progressive leadership experience in revenue cycle management, with significant experience in middle revenue cycle functions.

    + Demonstrated expertise in HIM, coding, charge capture, and revenue integrity operations.

    + Strong knowledge of healthcare reimbursement methodologies, regulatory requirements, and compliance standards.

    + Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, drive performance improvement, and manage large-scale initiatives.

    + Exceptional communication, analytical, and strategic leadership skills.
